I don't want to unnecessarily clutter another thread so i just figured i'd start my own. this is what got me started down this path though: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?107801-Plug-and-Play-Lexus-Projector-Fog-kit.../page3&highlight=es300+fog
So i have a 40 mile drive to work, during the mornings it is pretty foggy sometimes and i am going fast so i want some better lighting. After using the SEARCH feature i come across the ES300 fog light mod. I would love to China HiD + E-code my headlights down the road but am being thrifty right now. I understand and appreciate the ability of a projector light to have better penetration and throw and i'm also the kinda nerd who likes Yellow lights..... they definitely set the car off from the rest you see going down the road.
So i have agood donor set from the local Junkyard and a second set that is in crappy condition. The good set is now well cleaned and all the components look great and will bolt up very nicely.... the other set is really rough, really, really, rough but i am going to try to rehabilitate those/make an improvement simply because i will bet these are the shape most people will pull them out of the junkyard.
Good Guys!
Bad guys!
I did have some paint overspray on these lenses that came off with ease after soaking in some heavy degreaser.
So the first thing i'll try is to replace the convex glass lens with a piece of plexiglass.
It looks like there is enough room to fit
I cut a square and then use and angle grinder to bring it down to size and shape until it fits snugly.
It JUST touches the projector lens
I can build up the gasket around the housing to raise it and/or heat the plexi and try to shape it in a convex form.
I will try the forming tonight or tomorrow and will hopefully go ahead and mount the good guys in the meantime
some brackets i made that will help attach the lights to the stock mounting points
