I recently picked up a 91 turbo auto and knew it had some trans problems. When in drive it'll slip and rev up to around 3k and then suddenly grab and take off. It does this in 1st and rolling in 2nd.
Somebody sujjested that I change the fluid, filter and increase the line pressure.
My question is, how exactly can you increase line pressure?
Also, anyone got any ideas on why the car is doing this in the first place?

Or if anyone can take a guess as to why my trans is doing what its doing that would be awesome too hah. Did a filter/fluid change today and it seemed to help it a bit.
Basically, when you put it in drive the trans doesn't want to grab at times. When you give it some gas it'll make a noise that sounds like a creaking door and it'll just grab and go. I would think this would be a problem with the hydraulics and not the clutches because when it grabs it'll grab hard.. as if you were doing a neutral drop. Any ideas would be appreciated, i am at a loss here.

Frist video is right after i started it. Please ignore the power steering and the misfire.

I already have a thread about this in the transmission driveline section but there's not much action.
Anyway, basically when you put it in drive the trans doesn't want to grab at times. When you give it some gas it'll slip, make a noise that sounds like a creaking door and it'll just grab hard and go. It does it in 1st and sometimes in second if it's rolling slowly. I would think this would be a problem with the hydraulics and not the clutches because when it grabs it'll grab hard.. as if you were doing a neutral drop.

I've got videos in my other thread but I'm at work right now so time won't allow me to link it right now.
Any ideas would really be appreciated! I am at a loss here.

Better idea would have been to ask a mod to move the thread..

Have you checked the fluid level and condition?

You pulled the camera away from the tach when you needed it there most. Noise could be the input shaft with the pump. There is a bushing in it.

You're right i should have, i honestly just didn't think of that.

Fluid level is okay(yes i'm checking it correctly) Thing is i'm not sure if it has ever been changed because it was pretty dark. The filter change seemed to help quite a bit actually but the fluid is still pretty dark so i might do a flush and see if that helps.

As for the video:

This is after its been warmed up a bit:

Two things. Your trans is shot, replace or rebuild it. And stop driving a car with a slipping trans, it'll only get worse, never better by itself.

Figured it was, just wanted to make sure it wasn't something simple. I'm not driving the car, just made these videos for you guys. I've got an 89 with an r154 I daily. Thanks for the input.
