Thank you Ian.
The lines are pretty close to the exhaust pipe so will wrap them with some heat insulating tape in that area.

Merry Christmas & a very prosperous & safe New year to all.

Very welcome BC!

BioSkyline: The question wasn't "does it make a difference?"

If you don't know please don't post in Tech, if BC was plumbing in a remote filter direction of flow is important due to the antidrainback valve in most filters.

ok the question was unclear, and i actually have never seen a remote filter for auto tranny before.

Quite a few of us run them.

I plan to install a transmission cooler but cannot decide whether to run it as a standalone or use it in addition to the existing radiator cooling.
The only thing that worries me in using the radiator is if it develops a crack, & coolant finds its way inside the transmission fluid its goodbye transmission (2K worth), as its 2nd hand & I dont know its history.
What is the possibility of this or am I just being paranoid?

The Mk3 Cooling system doesn't have a lot of overhead at the best of times due to the small frontal area, I tend to use standalone A2A coolers for the trans, ran a fan forced one at the back of the car for awhile.

Due to space limitations I can only fit something like a Derale 17" rail cooler on top of my intercooler.
I think this is a good spot as it will sit right behind the grill & receive maximum airflow without obstructing the intercooler at all.

For the Chev I ended up with 2 of the bigger DC coolers in series between the AC and Rad, temps were fine and keep in mind it's only a bypass circuit so there's minimal pressure/flow in there ;)

The Mk3 makes cooling "interesting" to say the least!
