I got this emailed to me . I think it is the best thing I have read as of late . It needs to be read by everyone here .For the Servicemen and woman ,for the families, and for the haters. This is what makes OUR countries great. Be it the USA ,Canada,or any other Democratic country

Sentence of Reid

Remember the guy who got on a plane with a bomb built into his shoe and
tried to light it?

Did you know his trial is over?
Did you know he was sentenced?
Did you see/hear any of the judge's comments on TV or Radio?

Didn't think so.

Everyone should hear what the judge had to say.

Ruling by Judge William Young, US District Court.

Prior to sentencing, the Judge asked the defendant if he
had anything to say. His response: After admitting his guilt to the
court for the record, Reid also admitted his "allegiance to Osama bin
Laden, to Islam, and to the religion of Allah," defiantly stating, "I
think I will not apologize for my actions," and told the court "I am at
war with your country."

Judge Young then delivered the statement quoted below:

January 30, 2003, United States vs. Reid. Judge Young:

"Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes
upon you.

On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life in prison in the
custody of the United States Attorney General. On counts 2, 3, 4 and
7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the
sentence on each count to run consecutively.& nbsp; (That's 80 years.)

On count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years again, to
be served consecutively to the 80 years just imposed. The Court
imposes upon you for each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 that's
an aggregate fine of $2 million. The Court accepts the government's
recommendation with respect to restitution and orders restitution in
the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American
Airlines.

The Court imposes upon you an $800 special assessment.
The Court imposes upon you five years supervised release simply because
the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so
I need go no further.

This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes. It is a
fair and just sentence. It is a righteous sentence.

Now, let me explain this to you. We are not afraid of you or any of
your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid. We are Americans.&nb sp; We
have been through the fire before. There is too much war talk here and
I say that to every-one with the utmost respect. Here in this court,
we deal with individuals as individuals and care for individuals as
individuals. As human beings, we reach out for justice.

You are not an enemy combatant. You are a terrorist. You are not a
soldier in any war. You are a terrorist. To give you that reference,
to call you a soldier, gives you far too much stature. Whether the
officers of government do it or your attorney does it, or if you think
you are a soldier. You are not----- you are a terrorist. And we do
not negotiate with terrorists. We do not meet with terrorists. We do
not sign documents with terrorists. We hunt them down one by one and
bring them to justice.

So war talk is way out of line in this court. You are a big fellow.
But you are not that big. You're no warrior.&nb sp; I've known
warriors. You are a terrorist. A species of criminal that is guilty of
multiple attempted murders. In a very real sense, State Trooper
Santiago had it right when you first were taken off that plane and into
custody and you wondered where the press and the TV crews were, and he
said: "You're no big deal."

You are no big deal.

What your able counsel and what the equally able United States
attorneys have grappled with and what I have as honestly as I know how
tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific. What was
it that led you here to this courtroom today?

I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to
search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led
you to do what you are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing?
And, I have an answer for you. It may not satisfy you, but as I search
this entire record, it comes as close to understanding as I know.

It seems to me you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You
hate our freedom. Our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to
live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not
believe as we individually choose. Here, in this society, the very
wind carries freedom. It carries it everywhere from sea to shining
sea. It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are
here in this beautiful courtroom. So that everyone can see, truly see,
that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely. It
is for freedom's sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on
your behalf, have filed appeals, will go on in their representation of
you before other judges.

We Americans are all about freedom. Be cause we all know that the way
we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties. Make no
mistake though. It is yet true that we will bare any burden; pay any
price, to preserve our freedoms. Look around this courtroom. Mark it
well. The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here.
The day after tomorrow, it will be forgotten, but this, however, will
long endure.

Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across America , the American
people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice,
not war, individual justice is in fact being done. The very President
of the United States through his officers will have to come into
courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged
and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence
democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.

See that flag, Mr. Reid? That's the flag of the United States of
America . That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten.
That flag stands for freedom. And it always will.

Mr. Custody Officer. Stand him down.

So, how much of this Judge's comments did we hear on our TV sets? We
need more judges like Judge Young, but that's another subject. Pass
this around. Everyone should and needs to hear what this fine judge
had to say. Powerful words that strike home. God bless America

Please forward this----------so that every American has a chance to
it

Thank You all for taking the time to read this long post .I just thought all of you would like this and needed a moral boost

Cheers Matt:biglaugh:

Fantastic post... +1...

Here is the face of your enemy America...
47jw4z6.jpg

Study it well... There are many more like it out there longing to complete the mission this "man" failed at... When you get in your gas guzzling car and drive from one city to the next with out check points, and you turn on your TV and flip from one show to the next, and when you pick up your phone and talk to your friends and family, and when you come on here or where ever you go and post whatever it is you post, every now and then stop to give a silent prayer or thought to the men and women of this country who live, fight and die so that you can have all those luxuries you unwittingly take for granted on a daily basis...

My quote:

" I sentance you to life in jail, mostly beause you believe that you get 72
virgins when you go to heaven. And I want you to sit, and wait, and sit and
wait, and wait some more, for the rest of your natural life, as long as we can
possibly make it. Then when you do finally die, hopefully 80 years from now,
you'll see the world your believe in is wrong, and the realization that you're
not going to heaven, and you're not going to get your 72 virgins. Heck if I
had my way I'd cryogenicly freeze you with an unlimited power source so that
you never die, and never get "to heaven", but yet you'll never life either. You
foolishly forfeitted your life. And now I will go on to the next case, and
forget you even existed."

That website just reminds me why I *never* watch the news.

If I really want to know what's going on in Iraq, I ask a soldier - they are THERE.

...i sense that somebody is going to come in here and talk about how he technically is a soldier, just not of any established government. And how the freedom the american flag stands for is slowly being whittled away, with a chunk taken out here and there like the patriot act.

Well be that as it may. That is what it is all about. If this was some Dirka Dirka " goverment " then my first post would be a fatwah and those that doubted it or disagreed with it would end up dead as would their families.I personally wish this would all end , But it wont. I am afraid that the cat is out of the bag. I am not going to get drawn into a debate over this dirtbag. He has already had his 15 minutes of fame. Take what you will from my first post be it pro or con, but make sure that you understand that by doing so you are making a choice that alot of people do not have .

Supposedly, Gen "Blackjack" Pershing killed Muslim terrorists with bullets dipped in pig blood because they believe that if they die before cleansing themselves then they don't get to go to heaven. Why don't we test that theory on Reid? Actually dogs are believed to be more impure than pigs so maybe just choke him to death with dog poop.

Im willing to bet he was detained with 0 rights, no lawyer, and denied due process. They probly just simply charged him, and stuck him in jail, all why keeping it under media radar , dont need any more case of illegal detanies on the news now do we ;). I sleep better at night knowing that our government is busting "terrorist" world wide, and keeping the homelands safe:wuteva:

Lets look at the facts. Richard Reid is a US citizen. He has all the rights afforded under the Constitution and was provided a lawyer and fair trial by a jury of his peers. He was found guilty, showed no remorse whatsoever and I applaud Judge Young for making damn sure this psycho never has another opportunity to execute an attempt to kill in the name of Islam again.

Richard Reid was treated fairly...far more than he deserved considering the heinous act he attempted. I hope that once he is in prison, the biggest, baddest mofo there makes Richard Reid his "bitch". That will cure any thought of "72 virgins". Then stuffs pork in Richard Reid's mouth, wraps him in pig skin, and leaves him out in the sun to rot.

Sir - I do...in fact, I'm sworn to defend it. The Constitution is what makes this country great; make no mistake about that. Judge Young is right...our freedom is despised my many and, I for one, will defend it against all who want to take that freedom away.

I respect any man/woman that puts there life on the line day in and day out,to protect freedoms that we all love and enjoy. With that said, with all the freedoms were fighting to protect, save, and cherrish they are slowly being diminished in the name of safety, and homeland security. Now i cant take my soda on a plane b/c it "contain bomb making materials".If my chuck taylors have a flap in the bottom cause there wore out and i cant afford a new pair, ill be under "suspicion"

Well...who/what is the cause? It's not that our government wants to ban liquids coming through the security check point or screen every person that "beeps". This costs huge $$$...money that could be better spent on schools, public roads, etc. Instead we have to watch for terrorists like Reid.

I'd like to throw something out to ya...focus your frustration/anger toward the correct target. It's not our government...it's the evil people in this world that want to deprive us of the freedom we so enjoy. If we allow them to make us angry at our government about the measures we are forced to employ due to their terrorist actions, they will begin to win. We cannot allow that to happen. Instead, we should make it very clear our pleasure in stopping people like Reid and our satisfaction in locking them up forever.

I wish the media would look at it like that too...make it front page news when Judge Young threw the book at a POS like Reid.

Very well said.I can agree for the most part, but when i look to take my frustrations out on the "real enemy" it leaves me to question myself. As the group of "terrorist" our media portrays forces the mind set, that the people of the geographical area, of certain color, or of a certain religion are the enemy, when infact its just a small group of people. It leaves one to ask, Does the one bad apple indeed spoil the whole bunch?Stereotypically speaking of course.
