A/C Question

About 4 months ago, one of the plastic tubes on my heater bypass valve cracked (No clue how, just coming home from the Publix and started steaming when I hit my street).

Since then I've just removed it and routed the hose from the back of the head directly to the heater core.

Now that it's getting warmer, I went to turn on the A/C and it doesn't kick on. Last time I used it was late October before the heater valve went south (it had been bad but I had just left it open, but now it's unplugged).

Will the motor for that valve being unplugged cause the A/C not to function? I've tried throwing a 60 ohm resistor in the plug and I get a click from the driver floorboard when I turn the A/C on, but still no A/C. Looking at the wiring diagram, it looks like that motor not being in the circuit would cause loss of A/C, but I just thought I'd get a 2nd opinion.

No, if you're talking about the water valve assembly on the firewall. You've got other problems.

That's what I thought. Oh well, what good is having a Supra if you don't have to throw money at it constantly.:3d_frown:

I think I'm going to take it in this weekend and see what my mechanic says. He hates seeing me because I only bring him the 'I can't do this one myself' stuff and I'll be busy putting an alarm in my sister's new Prelude anyway.

Probably. I took it to Toyota of Orlando 2 years ago and they recharged it and told me the high pressure line was leaking and I had a list of other parts (elec fan in front of rad, main fan shroud...) that I fixed myself and it's worked for 2+ years. Looks like they were right about the line.
