My a/c works great but every now and then it will just start blowing hot for maybe 10 min or so and then start blowing cold again. I know somebody has had this happen before... Help!!!

Check your low pressure switch. Make sure it has a good connection or just change it to see if it helps. The GM trucks had a problem with the going bad on the mid to late 90's model. That is what I would check first. If not then bring it to a shop and have them put the gauges on it so you can see where your pressures are at. It may just be low on freeon. If I'm not mistaken, our cars have a sight glass on the Dryer where you can see the freeon flow, if it's cloudy it is low.

Thanks I had freon put in it and it still does it. Which one is the low pressure switch towards the front of the car or the back one?? Will I lose coolant to change it?? It only does every once in a while or at least once while driving home everyday (45 mile drive).

Well, if you put freon in it, you might have to much in the system now and it's building to much pressure. Your best bet would be to bring it to a shop and have them put gauges on it to see what your high and low side are at. I never changed a low pressure switch on a Toyota so I don't know if it has a valve in it or not. I know you can change them on a GM with out losing freon. But I would bring it to a shop or some one with some gauges just to be on the safe side before you go changing parts.

You might also have water contamination causing your evap to freeze up. You will need gauges, temp gauge, vac pump, and fittings to do the most basic stuff. If you don't have the tools to work on it, then take it to a shop.

Nick M, The OP came here asking for help. We both told him what his best bet would be. But if you want to tell him to start changing parts with out knowing if his compressor is even working properly or if there is a problem else where in the system have at it. Which like Poodles said he could simply be over heating it. If he has too much freon in it he can change all the parts he wants and it won't help. Regardless, he should put gauges on it to see what he is working with.
