'91 Factory Security Question

I've got a question about my factory security system, maybe someone knows the answer...couldn't find anything in search that really pertained to my question.

So, one thing I noticed when I bought my car last year, was that (to me) there seems to be an issue with the door locks. On my old '87, no matter which door you locked/unlocked, both would lock/unlock. Also, I could use the key to pop the trunk while the doors were locked without the alarm going off. Now, on my '91, I noticed popping the trunk with the key while the alarm is armed will set it off (upgrade, I figure). The issue I noticed though, is that on the '91, if I unlock the car on the passenger side, it unlocks both doors...but, if I unlock the car on the driver's side, it only unlocks the driver's side door. Locking either door with the key will lock both though. Is this normal for the '91 security system? Or do I have a wiring gremlin I've got to chase down...?

Thanks guys!

It is probably a design change. Think of it this way, if you are getting chased by somebody to your car and open your door, you don't want the other popping open so somebody can hop in the passenger side.

mines 92,

if you unlock passenger with the key both open
Driver door, if you turn the key ONCE only the driver opens, however if you do two quick unlock turns with the driver side key the passenger side will open as well.
Any unlocking of any door with the key will not set off my alarm bet it the hatch or anything.

when doors are locked however popping the hood, or making a dukes of hazard jump in the car will set off the alarm when i try to turn ignition with key.

mine gets pissed on the unlock drivers side first thing. I like it tho, trying to steal my ride it goes off disables the starter and ha, got your ass. I was gonna disable it but nah I'll keep it.

Yeah, my buddy mentioned that a lot of security systems did that keeping the passenger door locked thing starting in the 90's. It makes sense when you think about it, but up until he mentioned that I thought my wiring was jacked or something...lol. I'm gonna have to try that double-key thing, see if it works on mine. Thanks guys!
