89' #1 and #4 cylinder wnt fire, why???help!!

I bought the supra bout a yr ago, but only turned it on, but never drove it? could it jst be coil? Im about to giveit a whole tuneup, w/ denso iridiums, n ngk wires, would this narrow down my prob? any suggestions?:1zhelp:

I think that #'1 and 4 are on separate coils, so I dunno if that'd be the problem. Replace the wires, and see where you are. It wouldn't hurt to check the individual connections to each coil either. Also, I've seen where you can get enough water or oil contamination down in the spark plug valley to where the wires just spark out to the aluminum head, instead of the plugs. Make sure that the areas around where the spark plugs sit is completely clean and dry. Be sure NOT to knock any dirt/crap into the spark plug holes, though.

In my opinion a complete tune up like what you're about to do is a good start because it will eliminate a lot of possibilities and it gets the tune up out of the way too. Sounds like a spark plug wire problem though...my bro had a similar problem on his lexus sc300 and that is what it ended up being...his plug wires.
