Hi Guys.

About to purchase an 89NA to replace my totalled 87T (rear-ended). I'm swapping the engine, engine wiring harness, transmission, ecu, and other turbo specific parts.

Are there any connections from the engine harness to body harness? I don't remember any.

Any other gotchas from anyone else who has done this? I've read all the threads I could find and it all looked straight-forward.

Don

the plugs are going to be different if its a late 89 (look at the ECU that gives it away, plugs are either yellow or grey)

different ECU's (top is 2jz bottom two are manual and auto 89+ and yellow one is the pre 89 m/t) and body plugs are just as different, check the TSRM for the mkiii they usually list both

OK - thanks. I guess I'll find out Fri when I pick up the car. I thought I remembered all the ecu connections being from the engine wiring harness. What systems connect to the body?

My choices I guess are:
1) change plugs on body harness to match my ecu/engine harness.
2) replace 89+ body harness with my 87 (yuck)
3) buy an 89+ ECU and engine harness.

As my engine harness was brand new about three years ago, option 1 may be best if there aren't a billion connections to change...
