7mgte swap tach

I have looked on here and found no real solutions. I have an 88' that used to be n/a but now converted to turbo. I have replaced the complete motor harness and put the turbo tach in, but it doesn't read accurate at all. For now I am just going off of the AFC II tach, but would like to fix the original as weel. Any suggestions would help.

sounds like you didn't actually put a turbo tach in...

I didn't put the whole cluster in, but I did put the turbo tach in my cluster. Also, I don't know if the two are connected but when I had it dynoed, they couldn't get an accurate rpm signal from my motor.

Where is the tach connected to the harness or right at the dist. ?

It is hooked up right at the same place the n/a tach was. Just swaped the two tachs in the cluster.

i would like to know this as well. I am putting a turbo in my n/a and wanted to just swap the tach

^^^Same here, just got done yesterday, the entire process took me about 2 hours, very easy.

if your tach moves at all it is most likely a turbo tach. MY n/a tach was dead when i started the car on the turbo electronics(worked on n/a stuff). it should be plug and play. might just be a bad tach.
