hey my 7mgte has a fresh rebuild ect was down at the workshop getting my ecu installed among other things.

Now the problem is they were ment to start it up check things over then put it on the dyno before it got finished off.

as they should they wanted to build oil pressure among other pre start checks but sadly none.

I will tell you what they tried then what I have been recomended to try.

So they have some external pump they put in the oil cooler lines to prime the system
once primed they then tryed to turn teh motor over to get oil pressure-got none on dash gauge
checked a few things tryed again with there own mech gauge still nothing
removed the turbo feed(said this would be one of the last places to recive oil?) and cranked = no oil!!
so then they tryed to "help/force" oil by pressurising the crank case though the cam covers and nothing but air came out.
thats when the called me to telll me to come pick it up

There thoughts were there is something is not righ in the motor missing o ring gasket whatever they said this is the way it would act if there was no pick up on the oil pump.

Phoned the person that helped built the motor first thing he said was wtf! check your garage is the pick up not on or something stupid.

the motor was build prob close to 2 years ago so may be starting to second guess things but the pick up was there but re did fuck round for agesremoving pickup and pump lines ect fittin the crank scrapers im sure everything was put back properly but???? who knows

someone else suggested that I just try cranking it over sum more he reckoned his motor took ages to gain pressure that he was getting worried also.

sorry for the mega long post but foot notes
no oil pressure
will pull and inspect motor in 7 weeks when I have time
Or is there somthing else I should try first before stripping it again

now the car/motor has quite a few mods if the list will help I can provide

any help would be fantastic
cheers scott

well im sure it was checked, but the oil is full right? Also, if there was no gasket in the pickup, or if there is a hole in the pickup tube somewhere it could cause this. Its like sucking through a straw with a hole in it, youre not gonna get anything but air. Did you guys take the plugs out and crank it for a good while like that? Motor turns much faster with no plugs in there.

yes it has a remote filter setup. I wasn't the one doing the testing the tuning shop were o ring on pick up I would hope it was there but to behonest it was 2 years ago so cant really be certain but I do get the feeling it may be something silly like that.

I was told that it might not be a great idea to crank it any more because I don't know how long they tried and if its not getting oil then dont want the moly lube to run thin.

also if copressing the crank case couldn't get and oil to come out that its not going to happen?

and yes it has oil lots of it winged sump and remote cooler it was slightly over full before I gave it too them to compensate for what will have to fill the cooler lines I also asked them to keep an eye on the level for that reason

check correct connection of IN's and OUT's on the oil cooler setup.. ALL of them. Make sure the flow direction is correct.

Filling the cooler lines beforehand is never a bad idea.
