I've searched but I could not find a SOLID answer.

Can I use the 7mge w58 transmission with 1jz swap?

I know I need the 1jz to w58 bellhousing - Driftmotion sells them.

My main question is, what flywheel and clutch kit do I use?

Do I use a 1jz flywheel with w58 clutch ?

I also read that you can just use the 2jz flywheel and clutch.

I prefer the first option though - 1jz flywheel with w58 clutch as all the parts are sourced out already.
Anything I am missing?

Thanks!

Flywheel is engine specific, clutch parts are transmission specific. ;)

Easiest way to mate a 7MGE W58 to a 1JZ...

~$300- 2JZGE Bellhousing (93+ supra non turbo or 92+ SC300)
~$60- 2JZGE clutch release fork
~$200- 2JZGE flywheel
~$400- 2JZGE racing clutch kit (stock is too weak, buy a good one from ACT, Spec, Comp, or another reputable place)
~$30- Manual trans flywheel bolts (a/t bolts are incorrect). driftmotion.com sells ARP bolts that are less expensive and better quality than OEM. They are also reusable, and OEM bolts are one-time use.

If you have an alloy plate W58 the front bearing retainer might be shorter than the 2JZ release bearing was designed for and you'll have to use a 7MGE clutch release bearing if that's the case (you'll need to bend up a custom retainer clip to hold it to the fork).

Also wanted to add that a 1JZGTE flywheel won't work, it's designed for a "pull" type clutch, the W58 uses a "push" clutch. A 1JZGE (non-turbo) flywheel would work, but they are the same as what I listed above.

As you seem to know what you're talking about destrux, hope you don't mind me asking . . .

I'm fitting a 2JZ-GE from a Mk4 Supra to replace the 7M-GE in my Mk3 Supra

Am I right in thinking that as long as I fit the bellhousing from the Mk4's W58 to my gearbox it will all mate up correctly? (been offered one for $50)

And should I use the clutch and release bearing etc from my 7M-GE or the 2JZ-GE?

I'm trying to come up with a definitive list of exactly what works and what parts you need to do this engine swap, as a lot of people either seem very vague, or are fitting aftermarket parts due to upgrades or mods (keeping mine as stock as possible) . . . when I've eventually done it I'll be doing a proper write-up, so any input would be appreciated
