Use the JDM 2JZGTE ECU, Wiring harness, and sensors, then use the output from the CPS for ignition (it works in theory), wire the injectors to be high impadence, and Ditch the AFM.
This would give you COP and a MAP system, but would be a lot of work.

they do use the stock igniter. i was talking to them about this and i would actually believe the system to be very very finicky without a standalone.

As stated before, the set-up would be better suited with a stand alone equipped Supra. Ron runs and a COP set-up on his 7M (now running 2J) and I am doing it on my 7M since I am changing my stand alone to Motec.

Thats my point Duane, If i were going motec then COP aint a problem. I remember when Driftmotion put out the Circuit diagram for using the 2jz COP's using dual igniters and just thought it was to much like hard work just to achieve a clean look install - no real benefits over the stock system
But the setup pictured is clearly plug'n'play to the stock igniter from the description on the site, just thought someone had found an easy way of Driving COP's on the stock system and forgot to tell the rest of the world about it lol

It looks a nice setup though :biglaugh:

Gotcha..just because many don't know about it, doesn't mean it hasn't been done. Curious to know how it works if that route is chosen.

That (supracarparts) setup most certainly does not work with one stock 7m ignitor. It might run but it will missfire like a sob as soon as the boost comes on. As mentioned earlier the 1j/2j coils can be run with a standalone and two 7m ignitors or a 1jz ignitor or a aftermarket cdi ignition. With the stock 7m ecu you can run the 1jz coils with a msd dis-4, with my dual ignitor idea, or with a 1jz ignitor and decoded 7m ecu outputs. Mine was not the first 7m with 1jz coils but maybe the first one that actually worked well with 90% stock components. I just wanted to do it to show I could, but then I realized it got too complicated and had too many parts considering it was not an upgrade over the stock 7m coilpack. The stock coilpack is actually the best way to go with the stock ecu, which is why I made a custom wire set and relocated it. CDI would allow you to run two coil primaries in parallel, but you can't run like that with one stock ignitor. It can not supply enough output current so you don't get a good 12v switched across the coils which makes the spark too weak. Right now I switched to a standalone but i'm using a diode circuit to run the 7m ignitor (and stock coilpack) from the three ingition outputs of the standalone.

If you really want to do it I have several sets of 1jz coils available.

What is the cost of that setup? I don't see a price.

Thats one of the questions I asked them. I'm running tookwik's mod right now which I love, But I would love to get details on that option.

Ok, They responded, and heres the deal. Their kit comes with a nice aluminum plate for the 2JZGTE coils, a harness which connects/divides the 6 coils to the stock harness, the ground wire and mounting hardware. BUT, BUT you need the "HKS Twin power DLI to provide enough spark energy" So It seems like (or is pretty obvious) that it is still a wastespark system similar to splitting our 3 coils into 6 (if we could do such a thing), it does uses the stock igniter.

So do you guys think that with the HKS DLI, would it bring it back closer to what the stock ignition puts out? or would it actually be an over all improvement over the stock coils? Can coils designed to be ran sequentially work fine in a wastepark environment? (If I recall correctly, doesnt the AEM EMS convert the MKIV ignition system back to wastespark? or was it the sequential fuel injection that it converts? not sure anymore, someone correct me if I'm wrong)

What do you guys think?

not for anything but the 7m-gte coils are pretty damn stout. This cleans up the engine bay pretty good though. As for improvements. You might or might not. Depending on the condition of the 7m coils.
