Hello guys.
I'm in progress of installing Haltech E8 on my MKIII.
Can anybody share their ignition map please?

My engine is quite stock (2mm MHG, T3/T4 old-style SupraSport stage 3 turbo) and I was running 17psi on pump (95 russian octane - like 91 american) gas (stock ECU w. Lex AFM and 550cc).

Now I'm installing standalone and need ignition map, that won't ruin my engine.

Please post your maps as screenshot (not ECU datafile) because I haven't software for all standalone systems ;-)

PS: when you post, please refer engine details (comp. ratio, turbo and octane).
PS2: I was told, that recent MAFT-pro can monitor ignition, so haven't anybody loged stock ignition map? It would be great to see it.

PS3: I know, that I need to go dyno, but I can not (see my location). So, I'll be road tuning my car. And yes, I have WBO2 for fuel tuning. I need ignition only.

Looking forward for your maps! =)

my advice on this is that to get an idea of timing in GENERAL (not specific to one 7m engine) you need to look at ALL ecus. Of course the one with most maps available is AEM but what you ask is for someone that hopefully knew what they did to post on here. My advise on this

go read up on as much information as possible. What they talk about thier applies to ALL engines.

Thanks for advice, figgie. I already looked at many systems, read many articles, forums, books and so on... I know, that timing should be retarded with RPM and boost... Also I heard that small bore (like 7M's) is more detonation-proof than large (JZ) and other interesting things... But it is all theory. I need practice.

I asked for ready maps because:
1) I want to save some time and fuel (low- and mid-load angles, that are hard to road tune)
2) I want to know capabilities of 7M in full-throttle mode. E.g. 'A' psi of boost at 'B' RPMs with 'C' timing and 'D' a:f on 'E' octane. That's it. Especlially interested in max torque point and max RPM point (where usually knock may occur)

PS: 2JZ users on SF have special thread for maps. May be it's time to make similar for 7M's ? ;-)

well not sure if your reading told you what I am about to tell you.

tunning on the low and mid level is best done on a steady state dyno. Otherwise you have zero idea of what is going on :)

Likewise for the maps. Do you know WHO did the initial map? Has it been changed since the initial tuning? There are only a HANDFUL of people's tuning that I would use as a baseline om my car.

to answer your questions.

1. you won't save any time with a basemap especially if it is changed or has diff settings than yours. See all the people that complain about AEM not starting or how to set this and that. Pay someone that has done it.

2. What you are asking for is for someone to pay a tuner, get his car tuned and then post that info here. See where I am going with this? Why would someone that paid a professional to get his car in shape GIVE AWAY the very thing he paid lots money for to get right? ;)

just some thoughts. I am not sure how the tuners are in Russia but you have to have someone that knows how to tune. But what do I know!

I come from a land down under
My advice: Start very conservative buy a set of electronic ears and use them while road tuning.

There are far too many variables to use so and so's map on another car.

figgie: umm... May be I don't understand anything in tuning... (yes, I have zero experience in ignition mapping) But I'm not going to pay someone for maps. I just want to do it myself (hoped to get some help here). And as for russian tuners... we have some $$$$$ cars... 2JZs... JZA80 with 20+ tons of bucks in it bult on AEM and T88 can't put more than 450hp (cars with same hardware put more than 700hp according dyno-sheets posted on SF). This car's owner payed ALOT of money for tuning... In other words, the rule "you get what you pay for" doesn't work in our country... But works "If you want tning well done - do it yourself" =)

IJ: That's the way I'm going to tune... Also I was thinking about J&S Knock SafeGuard, but not sure if it will work well on 7M. 7Ms are noisy engines and valvetrain noise can confuse J&S unit =(
