Alright… So I finally got everything together on this swap and now it won’t start. The car cranks over and seems like it’s trying to catch but it just won’t. Any feedback would be awesome.
Points of interest:
1. I had the wiring harness done by phoenix tuning so I’m running under the assumption that everything is wired 100% correctly.
2. I pulled the first plug and I am definitely getting spark.
3. I hear the fuel pump running and the plugs/cylinders reak of fuel.
A. Is it possible to flood the cylinders?
4. Not counting VSV’s (single turbo) all plugs are accounted for but 3
A. one on the passenger front which I assume was for the hydrofan (I’m running clutch)
B. one on the front of the driver side which I assume is for the oil level sensor (originally front sump)
C. Not an actual plug but inside the manifold there is a second throttle plate in the front… the sensor that is sitting on the outside of that plate… I assume this would be for traction control and remain unhooked for this swap.
5. I re-checked the following grounds:
A. firewall to exhaust manifold
B. firewall to rear tow hook (which is how it came on the motor so I utilized it)
C. body to bellhousing
D. body to tranny mount
E. negative battery terminal to body
F. 2 wire harness grounds off the intake manifold (I believe they are currently bolted to the lower mani)
6. there is one engine code… 78… which is for the fuel pump computer. I am assuming that since you do not run the mk4 fuel computer in this swap that will be a constant code.
7. I am running SAFC (also wired by tweak) and have set it up accordingly but everything is set to zero (meaning no adjustment?) so I wouldn’t think this would make a difference.
8. Double checked timing according to tsrm and it seems to be correct… I don’t have a timing light however.
9. I know I should theoretically check compression but that will probably be the last thing I look at.
10. Tried to start full throttle… same response
11. Unplugged TPS… same response.
