2JZ Piston Rings Stuck

Ok i'm trying to remove the old rings on some 2jz piston and they are stuck. I've tried soaking them in penetrating oil for hours with no luck. They are stuck fully compressed and it's pretty hard to fit a small pic in to seperate them. (i've broken 3 pics so far). Any easy way to remove/break them without damaging the pistons?

well i have a set of 5 piston ring sets..... so if you are able to salvage 1 complete set from your engine... i got the rest they are new from toyota... i broke 1 ring while putting my engine together, well toyota wouldnt let me buy just 1... i had to buy the whole set.... >.<

I read to try to stick them in boiling water for a bit...that didn't help.

I'm not sure what that means.

It's only the top compression ring on 3 of the pistons. :dunno:

I don't believe so. The pistons look ok.

Top doesn't usually fail so it might just be carbon holding it in, I'd try spraying/soaking it with some Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaner and see if it pops out.

Ok well since dodge is closed on the 4th, I tried to use a tiny screwdriver and a hammer and managed to tap them out. They looked fine just carbon buildup. Thanks for the input everyone.
