there has been numerous post about this on all the corolla forums im on. Frankly like said above it is more than likely not going to happen. There is to big of a market for economy cars right now for toyota, i'm sure making an affordable light weight rwd car is the least of their priorities.

Even if they did make a new one it wouldn't be as fun as the real thing.

How can it be an AE86 when it won't be the A series engine, E body or 86 series?

Same way an FJ Cruiser can be an FJ Cruiser without having an F engine or having a J series chassis. GSJ15 FTW! LOL.

Though, for what it's worth, it could have an E-series chassis, it's possible.

it's cool, but Toyota would never do it..

also, if they badged it Corolla or something, no one would buy it..

plus the only people really intersted in it, will say "I can just find a used 1986 AE86, and drop $4000, and it'll be faster and handle better" blah blah blah...

Thread moved to OT, because it is OT. If everyone posted stuff in the General Forum just because it gets read more, we might as well only have 1 forum, haha.

In any case, even if a new RWD car comes out, (even in the Corolla line), it seems unlikely that it will look all that similar to the ones in that article, especially since the red car in the pics was proven to be a photoshop of a Scion on another forum.
+1 that is clearly a fuckin scion TC.
Fugly.
