2007 Tundra

well last wed. I went to the Tundra launch to test out the new 5.7 Tundra double cab and to see the single cab short bed and the all new Crew max that puts away the dodge big horn.
I must say i was extremely impressed! 5.7L 381hp 401ft lbs. 10.5in ring grear, 6spd auto and giant front and rear brakes!
I tested it agianst all brand new 6.0 365hp double cab Chevy, 5.7 big horn, 5.4 ford F150, 5.6L Nissan Titan!
The only thing that came close was the chevy but even then during towing the tundra put bus lengths on it and the rest of the trucks.
Titan shutters real bad towing a 3500lb trailor and 900 in the bed due to its really small ring gear. The f150 is a slouch, the dodge only has rear abs and isnt that impressive. The chevy was nice but still couldnt touch the tundra.
The Crew max Tundra is bigger then the double cab and was really nice(bragging rights)!
I was able to scoot the back seat all the way up and my knee's still didnt touch the front seat and i was able to recline the rear seat.
Theres alot more to this truck then I will say but power, hauling, towing, frame, and so on this truck ownz all the other half ton trucks!

I just can't get over how ugly the headlights are.

I never thought import trucks looked that good compared to the domestic's, but I think those headlights are just horrible, they leave an open space of body below them that is not appealing at all to me.

Wow, sounds like they nailed it!

Well, with everything except body styling.........

Exterior is hideous all the way around IMO, but thats just me. If it had a better looking face (grill and surround is way too big, headlights leave too much body panel below a la QX57, and WTF is with that hideous slit above the grill???) and the windows didn't curve up at the back of the rear door, I could go for it, but even the back isn't terribly appealing to me.

Couldn't agree more.
The back windows remind me of an Xterra, and I didn't even notice that slit until now. I don't like how the sides of the grille angles out at the bottom, the best and toughest looking fronts are the Ford Super Duty's and HD editions IMO.

^Mmmm badass.

I still like the commercials though
"For years trucks came standard with a 4speed automatic... You wanted a 6 speed automatic... Happy Birthday." haha.

The run down...
Toyota has best performance with chevy close behind...
Titan is the best looking...
Ford... is a ford.. fix often repair daily.

hmmm... lets get a titan body and cram the tundra parts all in it...

I wish they sold the Tundra over here in Japan so I could have a closer look at them... IMO I think that they only look good in std cab or crew cab form though. Extd cab? They can keep that shit!

Um, whoa, never seen that front end before. Actually, thats really not bad looking.
[EDIT: NVM just looked closer, looks like just a standard face with lighting masks and chrome grill. But that does look a lot more badass than stock...]

I love the looks of the new GMT900's (thats the new GM trucks for you Yota-only guys ;)) they really nailed it there. Sucks that the interiors are crap....the new and improved interiors still feel just as hollow and plasticy as ever.

The Titan's just look tacky and plasticy, take the Tundra mechanicals and toss em in a GMT900 & you have sex.

Imma hafta go look up those commercials, haven't seen em. Sounds good tho.

all of their models from the single, double cab, and crew max, all tow above 10,000 lbs, trust me i know i helped test the SOB. the crew max cab looks alot different then the dcab compared to the one pictured. O and btw its bigger than the titan. Pictures really dont do the truck justice till you see it in person and the interior is absolutley amazing!
we were towing 3500lb trailors with the dcab 4x4 with a 900lbs pay load then a 10,000 lb trailor with the 900lb pay load.
Also in the mobile home trailor pull they used a crew max 4x4 agianst a double cab chevy, ford, titan, and big horn and all were also 4x4 and like i said it put bus lengths on everything! like 3 or 4, its faster, imo better lookin then the 07 chevy, has a intergrated towing hitch built into the frame on the 5.7 models.
you can get a blown out crew max and imo its like an escalade but with more functionability. from nav, back up cam, tons of interior storage, dvd.
It also handles alot better then the rest of the half tons out there.
we did a turning radious test with tennis balls and the tundra was a foot away from hitting the balls, the ram hit 5 out of the 6, ford hit 3, titan hit 4, and the chevy hit 4.
also has the biggest brakes on it as well. the rear are bigger then some of the competitors brakes.
have pics of the crew max here and imo the truck looks better in black.

i love the 3 cab configurations. I really like u can get a single cab short bed with a 5.7, btw they already have a trd supercharger that'll bump up the output to 550hp!

That is stock. It's the Harley Davidson edition Powerstroke. I guess it's cheating comparing the Tundra to the diesel, but I've never been a fan of full-size gasoline trucks anyway, so my opinion is completely biased.

550hp s/c!? Nooowww... we're talking! Although I don't ever see the need for that haha.
You're right the black does look a bit better. Still can't deal with that thick grille and squinty headlights though:icon_conf

you can actually swap out that grille for a insert grille like on the front of my Tundra. The chrome piece all way around and in the middle is just 1 single piece and can be changed. The headlights will take time to get use to, they gotta grow on ya just like the chevys did back in 04 or 05ish then now the new 07 chevy, imo yuck.
compare the diesel to the new tundra, has the same size rear end:icon_razz
The rear end is made by hilo sp?? Anyways they manufacture alot of semi trucks and parts from frames, rear ends, and so on.
Wouldnt be suprised when the new tundra has a diesel put in it.
btw toyota bought out isuzu. Isuzu npr diesels are reliable!

The 05+ Tacoma is the best looking truck around, IMO.

The 07 Tundra doesn't look as good as the Tacoma, it's a bit off, but still looks great IMO.

No.

What you really need are some of those mitsubishi trucks... throw a turbo and a BOV on it, maybe an exhaust. Deffinatly a bright paint job and some nice tribal gfx... Now your talking, i mean w/o "NAWWSS" you can get that puppy to max out a 150. Want more than that? Sure just put it on your tab and Harry's and get some overnight parts from Japan, after that it will decimate all.
