i was contemplating buying a supra with a 1jz, 91 300zx twin turbo, or a 91 or 94 3000gt. pretty much looking for the fastest car. iv owned a supra with the 7m turbo and i really liked it minus the unreliability of it. it was always broken down. iv heard the 1jz is a much more reliable engine. i blew my head gasket twice and gave up on it. '

if you guys have any thoughts about what i said i would love to here them.

thanks

I never had a hg problem on my 7m. I also had a hks metal hg and arp studs. I two brought a 1j but it was because it was a updated motor. I hear some people talk about the lack of torque but my swap isn't done so I couldn't tell you. I do know that the 7m requires a little more care. That is all I can say for now.

1JZ is more reliable in those terms compared to a 7m. Between the 1jz , 7m and the 300zx motor, You will be happier with the 1jz. They are easier to work on and get to things in the engine bay. 300zx is a horrible engine to work on . I have worked on them, I know). I well built/upgraded 7m will blow the doors off a 300zx anytime.

Car: Original JZA70 (RHD) 0-60 about 6,0 sec (manually clocked).
"Bone stock" apart from the upgrades on the car when I bought it:
open air-intake and 2,5" or 3" exhaust system.

(Bought this car as a collectors item, so I haven't opened it up, to see if anything else was done)

It's my understanding that the 1JZ is capable of mid 14's in the 400M ( about 1/4m). It makes logical sense to me because I read somewhere that the 7M was rated at 15.0 stock. 1JZ puts out almost 100 more HP then the 7M. So the mid 14's seems realistic to me. A lot of it though depends on weather conditions, driver abilities, tires, etc, etc......

1jz supra= reliable if installed correctly and cared for
300zx= expensive but good cars
3000gt= eh why not go buy a boat

Exactly, I see the 300zx as a pain to work on/mod. Everything is piled on top of eachother in that engine bay.. 3000gt.. don't even get me started.

280hp - 232hp does not equal 100hp.

Yeah. Tiger Japanese has GTRs for that price exactly. And two 1JZ Supras, both stock, for 5200 and 5700 USD. TJ is located in Toronto.

i went to the tj web site and took a look. to me it looked alittle skechy. there is only one pic of the car and they all say condition is best but no other details. atleast the web site i showed u i can see that car up close and take it for a test drive because i live really close too it. is there anyone who can vouch for tj's web site. the red supra looks like its missing lots of paint ont eh bumper and around the head lights.

REALLY? I've read from a few different sources that 280 is what they put out to the wheels. I dont own a 1JZ though so it doesnt really matter one way or the other what they put out to the wheels or otherwise.

Give or take a few ponies but yes thats what they put to the wheels. BPU intake an exhaust usually 300+ sometimes 280+
