I'm in the last phase of my build, just mocking up IC pipes on the passenger side; and I went to take of the compressor housing and I ended up chipping a little bit of the corners of 3 out of 6 wheels. Is my turbo still useable? I'll post pictures shortly.

If you have a turbo shop nearby they can rebalance it for you. Probobly by clipping the ends of the other blades. but they'll be able to tell you if it can be salvaged.

Talked to a local shop and they told me to file down the edges and make the fins even all around. They would charge 65 to spin balance it.

it's gonna be hard enough for a 1j to spool that thing with a good wheel.i vote new wheel too

The wheel will actually spin easier now - you just wont make as much pressure.

I guess you could try it and see how you like the turbo, but some of the people using that setup in pristine condition on a 2jz already stated that they didnt like how LATE the boost hit.

For comparison you have a 1JZ with .5L less displacement and a broken impeller wheel. :slap:

trying to find a wheel to replace the one on there. I talked to a few sellers on ebay and they don't sell just the wheel. The inducer is 68.7, exdicer is 97.8 with 69 trim and an AR of 66. Is there a wheel I can get that is just a hair larger and just have my housing bored out?

that is not a real Garrett GT45 turbo.
The closest thing that those inducers and exducer numbers point to is a GT4094R, with the inducer being spot on and the exducer being 3.8mm smaller on the GT4094R than the turbo that you have.

So it looks like it is probably a "custom" turbo from ATP/PT/SP etc, hence why you can not find it.

PS. Taking the GT4094R numbers....... Hope you are prepared to spin the 1jz pretty high for that turbo as your turbo is bigger than the GT4094R! (See attachment).

I think the GT45 is a custom turbo from China. They just call it a GT45 so it sounds legit. A new impeller wheel from Garrett and installation will probably cost you as much as getting another turbo and there is no guarantee that it will even fit..

They are going for less than 400 bucks on ebay.
