Hello fellas. Those BIC Performance mounts worked wonderfully. Yesterday I finally located a clutch pedal and cylinder, which is all I was missing. I think the brake pedal can be cut and used?? Or

1. Do people usually get a brake pedal too? Is it really necessary?

2. What kind of 1/4 mile times, on normal street tyres, and an OPEN differential 4.30, would a stock 1JZ, at stock boost, stock IC, with a used HKS filter and a 3" exhaust in "so so" condition (stock downpipe), would do??

3. Is the 1JZ fuel economy better than the 7M-GTE? Just curious, please don't give me the "if you're wondering about fuel economy, you bought the wrong car"... I used to have an RX-7, and 9-11 mpg was usual with it. I could afford it, but I hated how bad the mileage was. It's a psycological thing.

4. What is the most power one can get out of the stock turbos setup? I'm not looking for that much. 350-400 to the wheels would be nice.. but I don't want to go all the way up to 20psi to achieve that. It's also a psychological thing, when I see the boost gauge going so up, I get this feeling the motor will break =P

The stock turbos are only really good for about 300bhp. They are the weakest point on the 1jzgte when uping the power.

you can do above 300 relatively easily. exhaust, downpipe, intake, intercooler, a bit more boost, and cams would get you over the 300 mark easy!

a member last year at the vegas event dynoed 371hp/420tq with mods like that in addition to an afc and an hks DLI i think. nothing super special.

Why? You can buy 5 M/T brake pedal if you are doing a automatic swap, but trimming it would probably be less work. I have one if you want it.

High 13's from my own driving experience.

Same or better than 7M as long as you don't rag on it too much. You should be able to double 9-11 if well tuned.

Go 14 psi and cover all your bases for removing restriction. Lose the open diff too. Oh yeah and by the way, it's a Toyota. They don't break unless you try really hard.

Very helpful answers.

OneJoeZee: I believe you mean mk3ownz or something, yeah, his numbers were impressive! He was at 17-18psi if I remember correctly, though. And he had some money in mods... coz he had aftermarket cams! .. I thought the cams were already good on this engine.

Stock turbos only good for about 300 to the wheels? Holy crap, that's little! How much boost can they handle? I thought this engine dynoed close to 300 even when almost stock with some BPU's... I mean, I've read it comes with "280" that's really a bit more than that (the agreement, blah blah).. ??

hehe mike anderson showed me his twin setup when he did 16 psi on them. Those sotkc turbos are weak. They glued pieces together! His car is in good tune as well so he just told me about how he hear a loud band and one of the compresser wheel ends just flew off. i need to geta pic of it later :D

the twins aren't that bad. they will give out on you eventually though. It's not a matter of if, but when. I've been using the same set since last year and my motor was mid to high mileage when i got it already.

when they do give up, either pick up another good set for 200 or upgrade.
