Hey everyone,

I was searching around, couln't really find anything. Just wondering what head gaskets people are using on the 1JZ? How do you like it? Thanks,

Stock toyota head gasket is as good as it gets in my opinion if you haven't machined the head or block too much.

I have the HKS stopper 2.0 on mine, but it's been through the machine shop a couple of times.

So I guess just a stock hg with arp studs will last me awhile. Nice thing about the 1j:naughty:

What do you guys think of the Apexi metal head gaskets... they seem a little cheaper than HKS and Greddy.... Any good?

Has no one used the Apexi MHG's yet?

What's the highest amount of boost someone's has run safely on a stock MHG?

Hate to thread jack, but i have a question about thickness... I had the head machined and the took about .006" off the deck. So that equates to ~.16 mm Thus i would need a 1.16mm HG. Is it safe to sill use the 1mm head gasket? Or will i have to suck it up and buy an hks/greddy 1.2mm?

It's cool. This was going to be my next question.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but, you don't have to buy a thicker headgasket. You can still go with stock head gasket, it'll just raise your compression a little. If you wanna keep stock compression you would have to get a thicker head gasket.

Now my question is... if you raise the compression by keeping the stock hg, you can't boost as much. right? If so how much boost could you safely run?

I finished the head gasket last monday. Drove it down to dc this past weekend. It was great. It runs a lot cooler, It doesn't dump as much fuel at full throttle and the gas mileage is a even better now.

I'm glad you finally changed out your headgasket. Your car was looking great last weekend over in MD.

Thanks man! yea it needed a wash though. It just kept raining the whole way down to dc. it sucked. it would pour then stop. pour even harder then stop. I was like:icon_evil
