So I'm going to be buying a prime 1990 white hardtop N/A auto BHG.
not wanting to even fix the m7 being N/A auto I'm opting to swap everything.

1jz, i can buy a full clip and have everything and maybe get some better mileage than the 2j

1.5 not hard for me to do I have a 2jz-ge block. I'll rebuild with lower compression pistons and throw in oil squirters

2jz, I have a full 2jz-ge it's not hard to go N/A-t but I don't know how wiring would go in the car, i'm guessing i'd need a mk4 ecu? then a 1jz bell housing and bolt up a R154.

I don't want to go stand alone with this, piggy back yes but i'm not looking to drop $1500 on stand alone yet.
I do want a R154 as i feel it's a stronger tranny and i plan on fixing up the shifte
r forks that break and whatever else i can do to make it better.

so what are your guys thoughts?

I see you don't have a 2jzgTe in your selection... I would then just go for the 1jz swap, and be happy with it, plus you'll be getting the R154, lines, clutch master cyl, driveshaft, and pedals from the clip.

Enjoy it for a year... then if you really have the itch, you can drop in a 2jzgte longblock and use the 1jz wiring.

Glad you are coming to the MKIII camp... you already seem like a nicer guy. LOL

^^^ What he said.

You can run the 2J off the 1J harness and ECU. Get the 1J get it running and go from there.

so i think I'll 1.5 it.the only thing with that is i'm so close to not needing the 1j clip i can single the 2jz-ge head new pistons in the 2j block and all i'd need would be wiring harness and ecu. i could even go stand alone for ecu oh but i still need the tranny and drive shaft, f*^k me.

OK so 1j clip here i come!

after seeing coolent drip from the bell housing area i offered him $750, he didn't seem pleased with my offer and he said he's going online to check it out. I'm willing to go up to $1200 for it right now

I say 1jz is the way to go. You can build the 2jz-ge after you get the 1jz up and running. You never know how much a swap is gonna cost, and the little things kill you. Get her running, and then think about more power. Unless you don't mind downtime, and have an unlimited budget.

I want to get it up and running. I'm thinking I'll run stock turbos for a while but I'll opt for a built 2j bottom end. if i can get the 1j cheap enough I'll rebuild the head on it if i spend a lot I'll build the 2j on the side and save up for a single and some ferra valves
