What's the latest in suspension tech?

I need to overhaul the suspension on my 90 MKIII. It currently has the Eibach lowering springs and Tokico shocks. They've been on there who-knows-how-long. I haven't found much talk on the latest options for suspension, so I thought I would post and see what people are doing nowadays. Keep in...

Airbag or no? Throw in your $.02 here

I have the airbag, I don't believe I have the sensors, and I know the controller (computer?) is unplugged. But I don't trust getting these parts at junkyard, or off SM. I will take it back to the dealer and see what they say. There's got to be a way to "test" or run diagnostics on an airbag...

Airbag or no? Throw in your $.02 here

Airbags. We don't like to talk about them much here on SM, so I hope I get a little bit a feedback here. My car's airbag was disabled by previous owner. I have the bag in the steering wheel, but it's unplugged in the center console between the seats, and I believe that both the airbag sensors in...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Ok, it all took more like 3 days, but here in one fatal swoop- New Katzkin leather seat covers (and dark grey carpet with sound-proofing to replace that which was removed by previous owner): New stereo system (Kenwood deck), sub-woofer (10" Kenwood) and 6-channel amp (Rockwood Fosgate...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Awesomeness! I may have to do that to mine. What kind of paint did you use? (in regards to the black valve covers, but the grey ones are cool too!).

    lock bezel

I used a dab of gorilla glue or super glue. Enough to keep them on, but can "break" the grip with a screwdriver if you need to take them off.

    Scion and Tesla....worlds apart!

Wow, lots of cobwebs in this corner of the forum! I haven't street raced in years. Don't look to do it. However, I had an interesting couple of opportunities today while driving my SC300 (2jz-na). The late model Scion TC (red) was driven by a lady. It flew by as I was pulling onto the road...

How to install aftermarket power antenna from Napa on car with 3-piece wing

I disagree. I have three of the four wing nuts and they certainly look original. The stud that is attached to the tips is threaded for a reason. I think they neglected to show it in the drawing. Regardless, beware if you take it apart. Those wing tips are very easy to break!!

    Help with a part number

Good idea but really need to 3D scan an oem one to get the size right. Also, the plastic would have to handle the punishing temps of the engine bay. I would really like one of those 3D printers..I need a way to justify one for work.

How to install aftermarket power antenna from Napa on car with 3-piece wing

That is the diversity antenna in the rear hatch. I did a lot of reading on it, and I just didn't see any advantage to using it by itself. I did read where you could use it in conjunction with your regular mast and get an overall improvement. I would like to do that one day. From my experience...

    Help with a part number

I couldn't find one either. Its like they get cooked in the engine bay and fall apart. I rigged up my own using hi-temp wiring loom. I will post a pic tomorrow when I have the car out. I would be very curious to see how others routed their wiring harness across the valve covers. (hint: post pics...

How to install aftermarket power antenna from Napa on car with 3-piece wing

That would be picture #1 ;) They make a stubby, black antenna thats like 8" high, isn't powered, but plugs into the existing antenna cable and sits in the same spot at the original antenna. I got one years ago for one of my supras, which I believe was an NA. I don't remember having to fight...

Car not starting randomly? READ THIS (30 Amp Starter Relay Mod)

Toyota does, and they know what they are doing. Back in the 80's, a car that lasted 100k miles was a good car! The average number of miles put on a car in a year was 10,000 to 12,000 miles (I remember this from filling out the auto insurance questionnaire with good ol' pencil and paper). If you...

How to install aftermarket power antenna from Napa on car with 3-piece wing

(PART 2 OF 2) The new antenna came with a generic mounting bracket with lots of holes that you can easily bend into a 90 degree angle to mount the antenna. I used it to provide support for the new antenna since it was shorter than the OEM one. Here is a pic with antenna installed. (Note: I...

How to install aftermarket power antenna from Napa on car with 3-piece wing

(PART 1 OF 2) My vehicle: 90 Toyota Supra turbo with original 3-piece wing Tools ya need: Permatex RTV, narrow weatherstripping, vice-grips, Phillips screwdriver, set of metric box wrenches or sockets and about 2-3 hours of time. Being a child of the 80's, I like the "old" stuff on our...

Car not starting randomly? READ THIS (30 Amp Starter Relay Mod)

Amen! I went through the hit-the-starter-with-a-wrench phase too. New OEM starter was the solution. I also went OEM with the alternator and master brake cylinder. Save yourself time and money and just replace those with OEM from the get-go. Now I need to find a solution for the crappy rebuilt...
