Looking for a machine shop to deck block and head on 7MGTE. I am north of Atlanta. I was going to use Bryan Maloof Racing Inc in Clarkesville, GA. but don't know if they are still in business. Anybody have a ballpark for having this sort of work done? Also need valve job and cylinder bore...

I miss the good old days

I do not know everyone's story but I can say that I ceased work on my 87 turbo 3 yrs. ago due to economics. After experiencing job loss and not being able to find employment with pay at the same level the car was put on hold, I have gone between selling the parts I accumulated to holding the...

    Degreaser...that works??

Wow, I have used both of those with Very good results, nothing will cut everything instantly. Simple Green works very well. It may take several applications to get the job done. A small brush after application helps to get into small places and loosen thick buildup. Be patient.

    brakes

The Caliper slides back and forth on the upper (front) bolt. It can be stuck in position to one side. The sliding action allows the caliper to move back and forth as the pads wear down. If everything is free as it should be it all will fit with no problems.

Crank Pulley Bolt flew off !

Actually you got it backwards - try putting the car in first with the engine "running" and start on a hill that will work , then put it in 5th and see what happens. He is going to be putting 195 ft. lbs of torque on the crank as the running engine would. So much easier to hold in 5th than...

    no. 3 cylinder head cover

Sounds like your missing the center cover. The center cover is sheet metal covered with rubber to seal the plug valleys. It will also keep oil out if the rubber is intact. It is held in place by three large plugs in the center. This cover also provides support for the spark plug boots ( with...

Question #1 Yes, and #2 yes. The rear support can be repaired (welded) and extra bracing welded on for extra strength.

    code 52 knock sensor

There is a seperate wire for each sensor that runs to the ECU. And yes the coax runs all the way to the sensor plug that goes on the sensor. As several have stated the knock sensors rarely go bad it is usually the wire. The factory only grounds the shielding at the ECU however, one write up says...

    washers under the valve springs

The "washers" are indeed the seat and without them the springs will begin to eat their way into the softer aluminium of the head. Not to mention spring tension would probably be off.

will a 1 ton foldable shop crane (cherry picker) be able to pull out the 7mgte

The problem is not so much the lifting cap. but the length of the boom. The one ton versions when the boom is extended all the way the lifting cap. is 500lbs. and the total lift height is not as great as the 2 ton ver. Short boom will also not reach the center of the engine compartment...
