I'm doing a BHG rebuild and noticed that the water jacket in the rear of my head is...not there. The block has an outlet, the gasket as well. In the head there is just a corroded aluminum area where the jacket should be. Anyone know why?

I know a lot of you guys would automatically bill this as a blown head gasket. However... the engine runs mint, no smoke, and simply overheats like a nun in a whorehouse! changed thermostat, no joy. Upper coolant hose to radiator is dry!!! ALL FANS were not running until we checked them... now...
