Crank sensor has been replaced before swap was running, no caps are leaking that was checked recently, I will check on temp sensor tonight. Potential to be Cam sensor?

I understand not having the 1200 for a harness, I only did because of selling my previous DD and getting the MK3 real cheap. However it is nice to have a brand new harness not having to worry about old wire, or connections. Nice Job! how many hours did it take?

Where did you buy the cap and rotor from? Have you check the wiring to the igniter? How did you test spark and determine it was weak? Have you tried leaving the spark plugs out and letting the motor breath?

Sounds like it could be a loose connection, or rubbing wire that is exposed and shorting out. You might need a friend to help you with this, but what you can try is probing the wire that send the signal to the ign coil and see if while cranking it looses it signal. Yes go with a Metal Head Gasket for sure. While you are in there replacing the gasket it would be a good idea to replace the valve seals, check the valve clearance, replace timing belt, tensioner, and idler. Any shop you have had good experiences with can easily do this job, its nothing special...
