Dirosa hit it right on the head. I had my harness for my MK3 Supra 1JZ-GTE Non-VVTI swap built by the guys from Tweak'd Performance, who did an amazing job by the way. Except for one thing. The harness came and I had the same issues no spark but got fuel and it cranked over. After about 3 hours...
A weak point of these motors are the compressor wheels in the turbos. Agreed making the engine breath better, by adding intake system, bigger inter-cooler, and pipes, and a turbo back exhaust will make a large difference. Besides the basics, as said above a single turbo set up is the way to go...
I mean it could have started leaking since I last checked, but I find it hard to believe, also since its not a consistent problem. I will look into it this weekend
Crank sensor has been replaced before swap was running, no caps are leaking that was checked recently, I will check on temp sensor tonight.
Potential to be Cam sensor?
Hello fellow gear heads.
I have a 1988 toyota supra mk3 with a second generation 1jz-gte from a chaser or soarer. I did the swap over the summer and since I have had the swap running I've had a check engine light on. the first code was for the MAP/MAF sensor code 31 i believe. Finally got...
Good deal man good to hear. I'm pulling the 7M this weekend so I can swap in the 1J. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with. 5+ years of professional auto technician.
If I understand your last post you are talking about the 4 bolts attach the prop shaft to the diff? or the 4 that attach the front shaft to the rear shaft? Either way there are a few ways to do this.
First way is to put the trans in neutral with the rear tires off the ground, you will be able to...
I understand not having the 1200 for a harness, I only did because of selling my previous DD and getting the MK3 real cheap. However it is nice to have a brand new harness not having to worry about old wire, or connections.
Nice Job! how many hours did it take?
Where did you buy the cap and rotor from? Have you check the wiring to the igniter? How did you test spark and determine it was weak? Have you tried leaving the spark plugs out and letting the motor breath?
Sounds like it could be a loose connection, or rubbing wire that is exposed and shorting out. You might need a friend to help you with this, but what you can try is probing the wire that send the signal to the ign coil and see if while cranking it looses it signal. If so you then know which part...
Yes go with a Metal Head Gasket for sure. While you are in there replacing the gasket it would be a good idea to replace the valve seals, check the valve clearance, replace timing belt, tensioner, and idler. Any shop you have had good experiences with can easily do this job, its nothing special...
Another option is to order a harness from Tweaked Performance. They will make you a new harness and you either have to send in your 7M harness ahead of time to avoid the 300 core charge, or wait till you get the harness and send it in 30 days after for a refund of the 300. Personally from doing...
Price for the engine would depend on your area in my opinion. Best way to sell it quick would find other motors that are for sale and price it similarly.
