This is my first review of a part, so please feel free to send feedback or corrections my way to help make it better!
The Problem
Like many before me, I discovered that my stock bypass valve (17670-42010) was completely dead. I looked into the Bosch replacement, but due to availability and...
Hi all, apologies if this has been asked before, but in searching I couldn't find anything definitive. (Other than most everyone prefers no elbow at all!)
I am hoping to learn the specifications of the SupraSport LIPP Turbo Elbow so that I can best decide if I should post a WTB thread for...
I am about to install the stock front lip on my car. I think I have all the parts, but when I removed it a lot of bolts were missing and it has been two years so must admit I don't recall exactly how it was mounted.
If there is no official guide (always wondered if something was in the body...
I have been planning to replace the aging stock exhaust on my 1989 Turbo with a BIC DDP with recirculation, the Random Technology high flow metal substrate catalytic convertor (Model #141-30033) and the HKS Turbo Exhaust (LET-T16).
I was about to purchase the cat and cat back exhaust when a...
Like many of us that go to change out our shocks I found my rear "stoppers" were in bad shape.
I looked up the parts on the wonderful Cygnus site and got 48341-14030 for my 89. The price on the site I really like to buy from is $44.54 for this part.
However, there is also a part for the...
Multiple people at work sent me this last week:
http://carbuying.jalopnik.com/here-are-ten-of-the-best-turbo-cars-on-ebay-for-less-th-1711423705
It is a list of cars that are/were? on eBay and a MKIII was at number 5 with some very kind words :icon_bigg
(Apologies if this went out...
I finally got the Supra back together but discovered an oil leak from the turbo oil return pipe at the block.
I started reading through the TSRM tonight to prepare for replacing the gasket on this pipe again this weekend and noticed something odd.
On page TC-9 they show the torque for...
Back when I was first buying cars in 1991-1992 I went to a dealership that had a nice large display with a full range brochure attached to it. This was different from the typical brochures in that it gave the origin of the name of each vehicle. I would say it was almost more like an index. (It...
According to the TSRM and many old threads FIPG should be placed at the front of the valve covers when installing them.
The TSRM shows were to place the FIPG, but they are NOT clear about how much to use.

With this being my...
I have been replacing a lot of nuts, studs, and bolts on my car and have noticed some consistencies with the part numbers:
90179-xxxxx = Most common for nuts
90116-xxxxx = Most common for studs
90119-xxxxx = Most common for bolts
Naturally, there are variations, but the above are the most...
Hi again!
Does anyone know the size of the union bolt that is under (part of?) the Pulsation Damper on the 7M-GTE fuel rail? I found one thread that said 19mm, but this is not correct. (Need to know what size wrench to buy.)
I am also looking for tips on removal and reinstallation. It looks...
Hi all,
In my quest to replace all water hoses today the upper "surge tank" section of the intake manifold came off along with the ISC and throttle body.
Upon looking inside the still attached lower intake manifold and the upper surge tank there was a lot of dirty dried up oil on...
I am having trouble removing the long plastic intercooler pipe that twists around behind the front right quarter panel.
The intercooler is out, I have removed both clamps that hold this pipe in place, and now the wheelwell cover is out as well. Seems no matter how I rotate it I just cannot...
I found some posts noting extra discounts for Supra Mania members at the venerable Champion Toyota Online site and was wondering if there were any details or a special code to use?
(Didn't see anything in the Vendors section, and the Champion Toyota link no longer functions.)
Thanks!
I was able to move all the wires on the exhaust side of the engine out of the way today and noted that the black plastic cover/housing they are in has disentigrated over the years.
After searching the EPC I couldn't find it. I worry this means this part is only sold as part of the wiring...
A friend sent me this today, kind of nice to know Toyota remembers the good times:

(This is not MKIII specific, if there is a better place for it please let me know.)
Cheers!
I started removing everything cooling system related from my car today and found that the inside of the thermostat housing looks like this:
(Pics are with and without the flash.)
The yellow green stuff just wipes out fairly easy, but I was wondering if it has any meaning? I haven't...
The time has come for me to get my exhaust manifold and turbo heat shields ceramic coated!
I was originally thinking Jet Hot because of the recommendation on the Cygnus X-1 site. But mixed reviews left me on the fence about using them.
I then learned of the amazing work of jdub. I read...
So back in 2010ish Spoon sports "invented" these little things called "Rigid Collars". They are designed to increase rigidity of the chassis by ensuring perfect alignment between it and the subframes.
There is a video that explains what the Rigid Collars do here...
Hi, my name is Toby and I have had a 1989 Supra Turbo for about three years now.
It was a sad sequence of events that led to my purchase of the car, but I do enjoy having it a lot.
Having always loved and trusted "classic" Toyotas I didn't research the car as well as I probably should...
