multi-quote is giving me issues so I'll just post a reply to you all.
Thanks for the replies and sorry for the delay. I had a close family memeber pass on new years and it's been hell dealing with that, and all that has to be taken care of afterward.
atmperformance - I'll perhaps call my...
As some may have read, my car was 'totaled' by a dent to the hatch and rear light section, leaving it driveable but according to the insurance agent, a salvaged vehicle. I have a problem (sort of) though, nobody sent me paperwork to do or a notice to get the car inspected (lights, etc...)
That...
Lol!! I didn't notice that autocorrect turned calling into baking! That's actually quite funny because I live in Humboldt County California. I don't smoke, but still funny
ok everyone, I think I've reached a decision that I am going to take $3400 and keep my car as a non-op. If I decide to I can sell it later and I believe I can get more than 300 if it comes to that. Do you guys think that's a sound decision?
I cant easily quote since I'm on my phone but thank you all for your advice! I just got the call and they only want 300 for the car, so I'd still get 3400 which is still great for this car if I were to sell it. I have a tough decision to make.
It does hold sentimental value but I'm not sure...
weird, that's interesting. Hopefully the value they throw at me tomorrow is REALLLY low.
Is it hard and/or worthwhile to sell a car for parts? I thought since this car's had a complicated past and may not (likely won't) smog, I could keep it for a few hundred, then sell it privately for parts...
whaaaat? why did they want so much??
I don't know if I should value the rims either, they're Italian Gotti 55C's but I can't tell if they're worth much or would be sought after. They look rather dated and at least one has a bend that needs repair on the inside lip.
I guess I could, I would like a good supra someday. I suppose knowing that this one will only cost me $300 give or take to keep, makes it difficult to let go.
There are trips I'd like to make where 45mpg would double my range, and in two years save me about $900, give or take.
In my position that's a good chunk of change blown just on gas, sadly. I was getting 22mpg on long highway trips with my supra so I'm confident a well tuned N/A or turbo...
Aww that's a bummer. Was it your first car? That's a bit of the problem for me that I'm struggling with. I've heard quite a few "I wish I didn't get rid of my first car" stories but I don't know how I'll feel later. It is after all just a car, but it's got lots of memories tied up in it...
I've looked at some others, the problem is I've learned it's not a cheap car to own, maintain, and fuel. I thought it would rock to have a 2jz swapped car that has a newer engine and fresher parts, but that's out of my budget. I figure I can throw together 5-6k on the high end if I save for a...
I'm at a crossroads with my supra, it just had some cosmetic damage from a wreck and I have to choose whether to keep it as a salvage title, or sell it and part ways with it.
I've had it seven or eight years and it's been faithful and a great learning tool that taught me a lot. I've done the...
I'm trying to get a car that's neglected and abandoned by it's owner in the owner's wooded property. It's going to need to be on a trailer 240 miles back to my home. Both locations are in California, where the car will be registered non-op, but I'm currently unsure of it's registration status...
Yeah I'm getting used to it now, lol. I might just go for a honda or something. I like the heft of the supra, feels safer than tin can economy cars, but I want better gas mileage and the insurance would probably drop on many other types of car. Airbags might be good, too.
Indeed! Thanks
Ah, same here. My first supra and current daily, has been in a bad wreck (folds under rear seats that were pulled out, even) and I didn't know it until years after we bought it for my first car. I don't regret it but I know what to look for now and I want a peach.
Anyway, odd thing on the...
Were you calling the clearlake owner?
What made you back out, just curious what he/she said? Anyway, thanks. If you see a good one under 3k that's in good shape...let me know if you think of it. :) Looks like you have good taste by your sig.
I appreciate everyone's feedback on this. I was also considering this car, but it's distance and smog issues tip the scales of it being a possibility: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?184539-87-Supra-Turbo-(NorCal)/page2
If I get there and don't like it, I loose time and money...
I will first start by thanking you all for the responses so far, and ask if there are any specific questions I should ask when I see the car?
Anything I should check that I might forget?
I will look for:
signs of interior being modified or replaced
signs of damage, or replaced panels...
