General update: Working on refinishing that second exhaust mani, and DESPERATELY looking for the small bracket that bolts to the bottom of that mani - mine was missing due to sloppy PO rebuild. Cannot be ordered from Toyota anymore.

staehlin - I used Rustoleum High Heat Ultra Silver with high sheen (NOT the same as their engine enamels). Timing marks highlighted in red using a red sharpie - works surprisingly well and sticks pretty good (doesn't smear).

Hey - I am installing a stock exhaust manifold on my 7MGTE, and I had a bunch of crap studs from my tear down. So I got replacement studs that are shorter and came with regular brass colored nuts (giggety - for all you Quagmire fans) instead of lock nuts. I doubt stock lock nuts will work...

Thanks - I actually thought to Cygnus link went down a while back. Glad to see it up again. Anyway, that answers the gasket question, but still no help on the bolt sizes. I am not going to hold up my reassembly much longer -will prob just order replacements from Toyota. Not worth stressing...

Hey everyone - just got my block back from the machine shop, and I made the mistake of not removing the oil pump BEFORE I sent it out. So I got my refinished block back with a box of parts....and I have no idea which bolts hold the oil pump and the pickup bracket in place. Google search gets...

Funny - there is actually a '91 for sale with a 1J/2J combination already installed for $9500 in York. Thought his price was a little high, but the car has a good amount of stuff on it. I was toying with the idea...just caught between wanting a maintainable, reliable fun car for sunny days and...
