This seemed like a good place to post this.
I'm going to be swapping out my springs soon (I have H&R's, going to switch to Eibachs), and I'm gonna replace some other worn out parts while doing it.
In the front I recently replaced the bump stops (KYB ones from O'reily's) and also...
Did you search at all? (asking honestly) There are lots of threads about the different shocks available for the mk3...
That said, good choices are Tokikos, Bilsteins or KYB's for stock replacements. For my money I'd go with the Bilsteins, since they have adjustable spring trees, you can get...
Well I've heard here and there that some older H&R's used to sag. who knows if that's true or not. But no one who's looked at it seems to have any idea why it's still sagging.
I'll try to get pictures soon (camera isn't quite working right) but I can barely get a finger between the tire and...
Update to this thread...
I've replaced the following
Shock
Spring hat insulators
bump stops
lower ball joints
and got an alignment. I still maintain the bump stops helped the ride height, but that's only because the old ones were so shredded. It didn't get it back up to normal height...
Sorry to bump this, but The thread is relevant to my question.
I remember reading (I think it was on MVP's website) that they were washable, but I've also heard from multiple people that they are NOT washable... so anyway.
If you can't wash it, can you re-oil it or something...
+1 for using the R154. The Getrag is awesome... but also Awesomely expensive. You'll save yourself a lot of headache, time, and money if you just use the r154.
If the new shock hasn't re-settled, then how do you explain the ride height improving on the passenger side? That one was starting to sag a bit as well. I didn't replace the shock there, just the bump stop and that one had more clearance as well.
Both shocks are Bilsteins and they both...
You can sit there and tell me that, but that doesn't make it true.
I replaced the shock and nothing improved. Then i replaced the torn up bump stops (on both sides) and the ride height improved. It didn't improve by much but it did improve.
The bump stop on the left was on my drivers...
Here's a link to the Bump stops I'm using. KYB calls 'em Strut boots. The front ones fit nicely even with aftermarket springs.

As of this point I'm still waiting for those pads to arrive. Champion hasn't charged me yet, so i assume that means they've not shipped. They...
To topic starter - you're using a ct-26 right? Is it a rebuilt one or the original turbo?
I'm by no means an expert but I would do two things...
1. Double check the Charge pipe and make sure it's connected properly.
2. Pull off the downpipe and look at the wastegate port. My original...
My driver's side tire still rubs on big dips, but i can turn the wheel both ways to lock, while driving on smooth pavement, without any problem. I have a suspicion that once i replace the spring hat insulators it will return to a normal clearance.
There's a thread on supraforums (probably on SM here somewhere too), which has a guide for upgrades. If you go straight piping all the way from the turbo to muffler, you can expect around a 40-50 HP gain. It's fucking awesome. You'll see the most gains when you get rid of the stock exhaust...
I can help with the valve cover gasket issue. I strongly advise NOT going with felpro gaskets. I got some from autozone for that job, and they were way too big and would never seal right. Go with ones from toyota, or if you can find them, there is some company (can't for the life of me...
Follow up - Changed the bump stops out today, and miraculously the car is back to normal ride height. The drivers side bump stop was completely cracked down the middle.... Passenger side wasn't too far behind. I'll post pics a little later.
just for good measure I'm also gonna change the...
I ordered new bump stops which i plan on putting in tomorrow, so I'll probably try that...
Only reason i ask is because I remember someone writing a review of H&R springs (can't remember where or for what car) and saying that his started to sag over time, but who knows what else was going on...
I've got a problem on my drivers side front wheel. The fender sags over the tire, so my tire rubs almost every time I turn.
I'm using Bilstein shocks on the highest setting, and H&R springs. I tried replacing the shock, but it still sags.
Any ideas what else might be causing this? I...
