Ok, I got 'er dicked this time!
I took a look at my ecu plugs, and one of the ks wires came half way de-pinned. I shoved it back in with a pair of needle nose pliers and went for a drive. The cel hasn't come on since.
DAMN IT!!! I took the car out a few hours ago and when I got to the street and hit 2nd gear, it threw code 52.
But, I ran into a aquaintance soon after and he can hook me up with a computer next Friday for $150 that I can try before I buy.
So, I guess we'll see what happens in a...
Yes! I finally found a minute to solder in the new connectors tonight. I started the car, warmed it up, reved it a few times and NO CODE 52!!!!! WOOT!
Hopefuly this weekend it will be nice out and I can go for a test/spirited drive, I can't wait!
...and I'm releived! I really didn't want to pull the engine this winter for a re-ring.
So now I guess I need to start buying parts so I can tune, (turbo, fuel, engine management). jdub, what would be a good set up for 450 rwhp?
Compression test results,
#1. 155psi
#2. 155psi
#3. 155psi
#4. 158psi
#5. 160psi
#6. 158psi
I also put my pcv system back to stock.
Now if I can get code 52 taken care of, I'll be dialed, for now.
I'll try and run that compression test this weekend, then I'll post back. I'll also try and get my pcv pipe fixed.
Thanks for hanging in there with me jdub, I appreciate all your wisdom! I've built several engines with great success, but this just goes to show, I don't know it all.
Now that I think about it, I agree. Theres no way the pcv system will pull oil.
But, the leak-down test confirms the rings are good. The crank case was breathing freely,(not under vacuum, but breathing freely), so where did the oil come from? Gotta be the turbo.
I'm not too worried about the turbo, if it's bad, just a good excuse to get my boss 57 trim.:naughty:
I believe you on the pcv system, I will weld the nipples back on the pcv pipe and hook it up. I originaly bypassed the valve covers because Total Seal claimed that with the low crankcase...
Stock CT26 that I rebuilt, stock lines, and I cleaned them out well while the engine was out. I think my oil is going out the turbin housing, like before I rebuilt the turbo, and the spark plugs had no oil deposites and looked good.
I don't think it takes much to pop the dipstick out since...
Welding isn't a hobby for me, it's my job. Having better epuipment will help you advance faster. I've already been through it. I worked my way from apprentice to journeyman. It's how I put Top Ramen on the table, and parts on the Supra.:icon_wink
With open breathers on the valvecovers, how is that pressurizing the crank case? Don't get me wrong, if my pcv pipe was still intact, I'd hook it back up like stock like you said. But with the ring seal I have, my crank case pressure is low anyway.
Please don't take this as an act of...
Not true. There are innersheild cored wires,(gasless), and outersheild cored wires,(gas).
Either way, any fluxcore is a bad choice for thin material. Plus, the extra heat of the fluxcore will warp the quarter panel badly.
