Spent the last few weekends installing a new media system.
First things first, you have to be able to power it so an Optima red-top and a 140 amp alternator from Driftmotion were in order. Shiny parts add 5 Hp right?!?
The head unit was a bitch, not so much because of fitment or anything...
Can confirm that it wasn't the control unit, once I swapped the units the fan still didn't work. In fact last weekend I lost all fan control. Time to dig into that. At least the new one isn't all torn up from wear and exposure.
The climate control module on my 87 lost it's low fan switch and the button faces are all chewed up and wrinkled. If I swap out to a newer years eg 1990 module is it still plug and play?
I just went through this with my 87. Pax side window would go down with either side switch but wouldn't go up. Electrically speaking the pax window switch is a slave to the drivers side. If you remove the drivers side switch and disassemble (do it carefully, lots of small parts to drop!) below...
In the process of bringing my 87 out of winter hibernation I cracked the nipple on the coolant reservoir cap. Now it just sucks air and won't draw coolant back into the block when it cools down. Local Toyota dealership has the part listed as no longer available and asking at other parts stores...

If you swapped to a manual and didn't pull the ECT ECU it will freak out and throw codes. That's what the blinking O/D light is telling you.
