There's no reason for it to happen as long as you fixed it right, are running safe a/f ratio, boost, and a decent cooling system.

I've got H&R's. Any lower and it would be getting hung up on speed bumps.

You won't get a BHG if you fixed it right, which it sounds like you did.

Is the overflow reservoir bubbling air out of the hose? If not, HG is probably fine. Did you check the turbo for shaft play? My friend's 7M is pouring white smoke from a blown turbo, so much shaft play the turbo won't spin if you push sideways on the shaft. And fwiw I run 6 quarts in my 7M as well.

It's not going to work. You would need an n/a exhaust manifold and downpipe. Then you have open oil lines, open coolant hoses, and it probably wouldn't run right. Best bet is to find a used turbo for cheap, then save for a new one. Look on craigslist and ebay. Replacing the turbo is pretty easy...

I like Rotella t6 5w-40. Runs great in the 7m. very popular with subaru sti guys. it's tough stuff.

Invest in / borrow a timing light. You really want to make sure you are at 10* btdc with the pins jumped. unless you want to risk another BHG.

Check all the hoses. I had the same problem and it was a small hose way down under the intake manifold slowly leaking. If there aren't any air bubbles coming up from the hose in the reservoir, the HG is probably fine.

I put H&R springs on my car and its rubbing up front pretty bad, with huge 225 60 16s. What size tire should I go with? (stock wheels)

My mk3 has 225/60-16s. (on the car when I bought it) I'm putting on H&R lowering springs, are these still going to fit or am I going to have to buy new tires?

Just wanted to say thanks for the tutorial, got the ranger bearing installed exactly how you did on my 87 and it fit like it was meant to be and it works perfectly.
