My supra was the same as yours and one day I got home and coolant was overflowing and bubbling everywhere. I spent about $400 on an oem headgasket, arp headbolts, full hose set, gasket set, and having the head machined. I spent a few days cleaning everything and slowly put it back together. It's...
When I first bought my car it was completely worthless on boost, problems included knock sensor wiring, timing set to 0 degrees, both cats clogged, and a cracked hose off the turbo.
They want $~160 for that hose at the dealership. I cut a little off the end of mine, it still fits and works fine. The driftmotion kit is good but requires some fabrication.
I run a CXracing. It's huge. It drops in fine but I had to bend the top mounts a little to make it fit. I don't even have a fan shroud. Temp stays at 180 no matter what, but it never gets over 70 degrees here.
I've been chasing a strange 45mph vibration in my 87 turbo for a while. I jacked the back of the car up and ran it off the ground at 45mph and the vibration was very bad. I was checking for play in all the rear end parts when I noticed the CV flange on the passenger side of the diff clunks in...
That I finally own a RWD 5 speed turbocharged inline 6 car. What a combination.
The experience of driving it. On a tight curvy road, the solid feel after lowering, hearing the turbo spool and getting tossed back in the seat leaving a corner.
The sound of flooring it between buildings with...
I just noticed one of the wires has ripped off from my fuel pressure VSV. Does it have any other function besides helping hot starts? It runs fine right now, can I just take it off?
I have all new belts, every single hose replaced, new waterpump, alternator, battery, headgasket, radiator, it's running good and now I know it inside and out, so I guess I'm good to go.
There is an adjustment screw on the throttle body that faces the front of the car. It's inside the aluminum on the top right of the first throttle body. My car idled at 1100 and that was the problem.
Right now I have the stock elbow and stock downpipe (cat in downpipe gutted), then 3" straight pipe to the back. Stock ct26 at 10 psi. Would a good 3" downpipe make a pretty noticeable difference or is it only worthwhile for a larger turbo and more boost?
My Supra has a vibration coming from the back only at around 40-45mph. Any other speed it's perfectly smooth. It's like a low pitched humming vibration. on/off throttle, coasting, it doesn't matter. The driveshaft is in phase and it has a new carrier bearing. What could it be?
