Ummmm....if he bypasses the heater valve straight into the heater core I dont care what the AC setting is. You are getting full heat and no flow control.
Not much to commnet on this month. I have mostly been polishing things under the hood and the wheels. Also purchased an intercooler and IC pipes from Driftmotion, 3" DDP from 935 Motorsports and a Shaftmasters aluminum driveshaft.
Am assembling the block and head. Still have to drill...
I use marine style battery terminals. The type that clamp onto the battery than you tighen a wing-nut down on the cable terminal. I solder the cable terminals onto the cable.
The most common cause for increased NOx emissions is higher than normal combustion temperatures. Common causes can be a malfunctioning EGR system, engine overheating, or misadjusted timing. These factors can also be part of the catalyst failure. The ECM will try and adjust for these conditions...
There are more issues with the car. A cat wont fail on its own. There is a very good reason why you need a new one. The cause of the failed cat is the reason you failed your NOx test. I would suspect you have a very rich/poor running car.
As far as the heat being on, you might as well have been blowing on the motor yourself to cool it down. It had the same affect. The part where your fan wasnt moving, yea see the fan is connected to the water pump. Thats what that little peice of aluminum is called.
What we are saying is...
Considering the water pump wasnt operational, the temps were higher than what you noted. Turning the heater on full was of no use as well. I am curious how much damage is done to the motor now.
On the brake pedal, where the switch contacts it, there is a rubber plug. If it is worn it will not allow the switch to go open. If that is the problem, tape a penny to the plug to get brake lights operational and get one from the dealership.
I have one that I am working on that is doing the same thing. Floater moves fine but will not float when water is added. Owner of the car will order one next month or so before he drives it.
