The likely culprit in my experience with the 1j is that you might have a sticking ISCV. Sucks that the 1j unit isn't able to be disassembled like the 7m (point to you 7m...), and they are quite costly to replace. Does holding in the throttle after the car has warmed up a bit help keep it from dying?

Stock. Stock sounds good on an NA engine. ;) Seriously though, I've only heard a 6m that sounded better as a result of exhaust changes. Thing had custom a custom header, and something like 2.25" piping all the way back to a Magnaflow twin tip muffler. That car sounded nice, but most NA cars...

If he had cams, it would still be making power up to 6500 and wouldn't just be to keep it revved high for the next gear... WINK WINK. ;)

I know, but that was with stickier tires, wasn't it? I just can't see my car running a 1.6 even though the low end power is there, it's just hard to launch on boost with a 5 speed.
