mate love your car! especialy now I know you've had it for so long and brought it up from stock major respect one day I hope to have mine look as good as yours!!
basicly what I was saying they slapped a blanket rule down for all cars even though its not neccacerly possible to apply these to all cars so the inspector has a "little" bit of leway he is alowed to give at his own discression provided you have tryed to fix it and you can only get it so close...
Who are you taking it to cert?? when i saw JAKE SNOOd he seemed pretty understanding there is also an exhaust shop about 6 shops down form him so it could be easy to back and forth between those to to come up with a solution some times they are able to bend some rules.
like your car is ment to...
Is this with all filters(mine was a fram ) trying to get correct info before I confront the shop that installed it then told me my motors bung pulled it striped it and told me I can't reuse my mhg
funny you mention this just went to the garage I think mine actually is. Is the flow ment to be outer hole out inner hole return? (i dnt have a thermostat but its ment to be filter then cooler) sorry to thread jack

your guys insurance is quite cheap compared to nz! a few different quotes ive got for mine value form $1600 to $1800nzd (I would have to pay for an independent valuation myself 1st) and its not even agreed value so im sure at time of claim they can probly decide its worth less but either way...
starters I live in nz so I bought them locally what I payed for them and by the time there fitted ect is about the same price as the wilwood kit on ebay only differnece is I didn't have to pay shipping or taxes on this kit that is why it was cheaper for me.
the modified hubs were a one of...
ive got them for the mk3 already but the fitting is different on the mk4 calipers

My motor may still be a mystery but if I do get it going atleast I know I can stop it :)
still gotta get new hub rings and change my brrake lines to suit but still yay! :)
when the shop was working on it they used straight water(wernt going to add coolant till it got running)
and that was a couple of months ago so it sat for a bit before I realised that was the case and drained it
will get some pics soon
now the origonal reason fro tearing down the motor...
pics of the head
behind the lower timing cover
and some thing I just noticed now the paper gasket sits slightly up between the front cover and the block could this have beena contributing factor in the problem?

first jsut showing the different amount of useable threads with the arps the one on the left is upsidedown
how the hg was sat
photos of the block

I was under the impression that thas was ment to be facing out to make it easy to remove them from the block.
but when you turn them the otherway around there is alot more useable...
well pulled the sump off today the coolant leaking round the oil pump was already not a good start ( still looking for reasons for no oil pressure at this stage)
