Gotta replace oil gasket in front... what else?

Well, it looks like my engine cleanup has stalled until after my vacation at the beginning of October. Hopefully by the end of that month I'll have my parts and be ready to get dirty. :evil2:

    New toy. :)

How to you build that? I was wondering about it and didn't know what kind of detail it had. I'm working on the Testors (Fujimi) kit and am waiting on the Toyota Soarer 3.0GT model kit I ordered so I can cut the hood and transplant the 7m-GTE engine from that kit into the Supra kit. I'm also...

Huh. An alarm with a turbo timer. Now that rocks. What price range are we talking about here? WANT.

    Caught fire today

Well, finally found one at Harbour Freight Tools, but didn't expect them to have one for cars. For now, I've put it with the spare tire under the trunk board (leery about drilling holes in the cabin...). IJ, I went looking for that plate you said you had behind the driver's side seat at the...

    Caught fire today

Wow. I went to Autozone, Advance, AND Pep Boys, and NO ONE had extinguishers. I even got told to go get one from Wal-mart! Guess they're getting more and more popular....

Looking for ideas for a secret service/valet switch

Link up a switch to a boost controller maybe, but don't know how a manual switch would affect that. If there was a way to lock down the setting in a boost controller so that it can't be changed, but again, don't know enough about boost controllers yet to know if it can be done. I've seen...

    Automatic or Manual?

I've heard this too, that autos were faster marginally than sticks. But let's throw a monkey wrench into things (as I'm thinking about getting one of these...). What difference would a "Suprastick" make in an auto then? Anyone tried a Suprastick yet?

    Radio Problems.

No, not a power relay, but part of the harness to the radio itself. Like it's been said, you probably pulled out something when you put the dash back up, as there is a rat's nest of wires and stuff behind there. You should be able to just pull apart the front center console area where the radio...

Gotta replace oil gasket in front... what else?

Yeah, I've got to give the engine bay a bath, that's for sure.

    Caught fire today

Yup. Gonna put one in the back seat tomorrow when I get off of work. Will pick up one from Pep Boys on the way home. I already keep one in the XJ for when I trail, overworking an engine when you're offcamber on a granite rock is no place for an engine fire. But I've seen enough older cars...

Gotta replace oil gasket in front... what else?

Well, I took my car over to a friend's house to show him what I had, and as he was nosing around the front underneath of the car it started slow leaking oil (didn't see it when it was level earlier...:3d_frown:). So, replacing the oil gasket in the front is in short order (where the leak was...

Help going to rain tonight and I cant get driver window up

I've found most power motors for windows are in the most inaccessable parts of the door to get to. It helps to have a friend working with you to hold stuff, sight where your hands are going, etc... to get at it. Since you have to slide your hands inside and around the frame to get to a motor...

    Radio Problems.

Loose connection on the radio wiring harness maybe. Check all your wiring there for loose/pulled out wiring.

Never leave a shop without checking all their work first.

Because I'm not that experienced. I know suspensions, radiators, axles, and basic to moderate maintenance, but I've never done my own tune-up. For something that touchy I'd rather have someone work on it who knows exactly what they're doing, and let me watch in the process. I learn quickly, but...

Never leave a shop without checking all their work first.

This is why you find a shop that permits you, the knowledgable owner, access to the back WHILE they are working on it. This way, they have NO EXCUSE for broken/miswired/unplugged crap and sloppy installs. If your go-to shop won't even let you verify the mechanic's work just after he gets done...

    Eclipse CD5030 headunit - A+++!!!!

An awesome deck, makes the Alpine I had in mine look and sound like mega-crap. Also does wonders with the Polk speakers and soon-to-be-added kicker box and woofers (Sony Xplode'r for now until I save up for Fosgate!!!) listening to Muse, Metallica, AC/DC, Marilyn Manson, KISS, Chemical Brothers...
