Are you talking about the clear plastic peice that covers the gauges? If so you will need to remove the gauge cluster. Then once you have the cluster off of the car you need to remove the six screws on top of the cluster, then you take off the three screws on the bottom of rear of the cluster...

As long as you use the 89-92 style, you will want to get the antenna without the spoiler for those years because if you get one for those years with the 3-peice spoiler then the antenna will not work unless you have the 3-peice soplier on your 87 which it doesn't sound like you have.
