I would also say that you might have a short some where in the wiring. Maybe you should try and repair yours and see if it works good after that or else if it does not work out then I would replace it.

Thats how my Turbo Supra was before I replaced the afm sensor. I would barely drive it out of my driveway and I could not go more than 10-15mph before it died but then I replaced the afm and it ran good after that.

Just what ever you do DO NOT get any of that carb spray by the AFM sensor or else you will ruin you sensor. Is your engine light on or do you have any codes?
Sounds like you will be needing a new afm. I also heard of that product but I just cleaned mine with a clean rag and even though it says that it cleans the sensor I just did not trust using it on my Turbo Supra.
Yes if you find a good air flow meter you can use that to see if yours is good or not. Is your engine light on or do you have any codes? maybe code 31.
You might need to replace or inspect the yellow lamp failure box in the trunk because that might be bad. Inspect yours to see if you have any water damage, loose wires, or any rust on the connectors.
Check the wire that goes to the oil sender unit it just might be loose and most likely you have a good sender unit because usually those dont go bad and if it is not a loose wire or a blown fuse then I would inspect the gauge. I had to replace mine because the little plastic bar behind the oil...
