What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Nice! I am at the 3 months of no Supra mark myself. Started getting parts together this morning to finish the job...WAIT...ordered 2 too few fuel pipe gaskets. Back to waiting on parts...

    Guv'na's Tavern

Yeah, my job situation is part of the evil of tech industry companies. In order to avoid paying benefits they keep a large portion of the workforce on contracts. This means you not only get screwed over by the greedy contract agencies, but then you have to not work for 100 days after working for...

    Guv'na's Tavern

Sounds like a good time. I might be able to make it on the 20th, but it is up in the air. Luckily I will have no job after the 28th, so then it should be easy to come!

    Guv'na's Tavern

What is RDM? (Sorry, I know nothing, in fact, I might be more ignorant than Bird's phone!)

    Guv'na's Tavern

I was mostly kidding. Would love to come to a meet! But since I have done so much work to the Supra I probably won't be confident in making longer drives for a few weeks. Do meets occur in the fall, or have they ended for the year?

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Nice front lip akito! I wish mine was that straight and unbent... Changed out the starter today. It was ironically the most stress free thing I have done to the car lately, but the TSRM illustrations were confusing. I hope it is not in wrong. (Installed it just like the original one was placed.)

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Doh, I put the green side toward the block this morning. My oil pipe is in excellent shape on that end, it still has the original green paint and is smooth and gasket free. The block side was a bear to clean up, so I figured I would put the "better" side toward it since it likely has a higher...

    Guv'na's Tavern

I assumed Villy was referencing a recent South Park where people turn the DMV into a place to confess sins...but maybe not? If this is coincidence that would be crazy! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_Go,_Let_Gov Oregon is sooo far away! Shame the Concorde went out of service :(

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Yeah, that is the one, it has a green bit of piping on one side, but one side only. (Second one down on the left side on this page: http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/Gaskets/default.aspx) And don't worry, the elbow is not permanent! I have a BIC DDP, but I want to make sure the car is tip...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Put the turbo back together! Ceramic coated hot side, clamp, and stock elbow. New gaskets on elbow, water, and oil pipes. New studs and bolts from Toyota on water and oil pipes too. Only thing I don't know is which way to face the gasket that goes between the oil pipe and the block...

Picture of FIPG usage on Valve Covers during valve cover gasket replacement?

Yuck, not a pleasant thought at all Dan. Shame the screws don't snap before the covers. Back to my original concern this is how much FIPG I used this morning. Seemed like a good amount based on the advice everyone offered and how much squeezed out the sides: Thanks again for the advice!

86.5 is a unique year though. I cannot think of any other half year cars off hand. Think of it as like having an amp that goes to 11!

Picture of FIPG usage on Valve Covers during valve cover gasket replacement?

Yeah, that would be a scary mistake to make! 12 times the torque cannot be good for threads, heads, or covers.

Picture of FIPG usage on Valve Covers during valve cover gasket replacement?

Yeah, those bolts love to come out... I installed the SupraSport kit and they were still coming loose. However, I blame that more on the old rubber grommet washers. Like everything else on the car that was once rubber they were plastic. When my cam covers go back on this weekend I am using new...

    Guv'na's Tavern

Well, sad to hear your Supra is gone Villy, but glad to hear you got what sounds like a good price for it :) Perhaps it is the curse of being the Guv'na, once appointed one will be forced to part with their Supra to prove their worthiness for the post?

Picture of FIPG usage on Valve Covers during valve cover gasket replacement?

Here's hoping the brand new cylinder head cover no 3, FIPG on the threads, and proper torque will keep me oil free. Also glad to hear the problem is not as bad as before Silver MK3. But if not I will definitely add the drain plug gaskets super51fan and many others have suggested. I had honestly...

Looks like I will probably be buying drain plug gaskets soon :(
