ok, when she cranks is it a really fast kind of cranking or a slowish normal crank? If it's a fast crank, could be a nice sign of a loose, stretched, broken timing belt. Find out the basics first. Spark, is she getting it? If yes, is she getting fuel?

it won't crank as in the engine doesn't even turn or won't crank as in will turn but won't start?

TPS' are so damn annoying. If the mkIII ts are anything like mkIIs, you'll have to jump out the check engine connector, turn the key on and watch for the check engine light to blink. If it doesn't blink, the TPS isn't adjusted properly (stupid sensitive bastards). I have no experience w/ mkIII...
