vaccum leak, bad TPS sensor.... try checking your ECU codes (even if the light isn't on, there still may be something there)
for vaccum leak, spray carb cleaner around suspected hoses, areas while engine is running. If the idle levels out you've found the leak.

damn Jeff, you're a tall mofo. can't really tell in you sig, but is your mkII hardtop or sunroof? I guess the hardtop has more headroom, but I've really never sat in a mk3 and noticed a big difference in space (like I would, being 5'4" and all, haha)
