I'm looking for a way to increase the steering effort a bit without swapping to PPS (if that's even possible). Preferably without spending hundreds of dollars.
On my eclipse years ago I bought a modified bypass valve for the power steering pump (for $40) that lowered the pump pressure to...
No videos that I know if, but SCC magazine ran a story about this a while back outlining the math behind it and what the advantages are (it was in the Tecnobabble column that Dave Coleman wrote). I'll take a look at my collection when I get a chance and see what issue it was in if anyone else...
The VNT isn't the exciting new thing here. It's the fact that the turbo has TWO compressor housings and TWO compressor wheels and can compress the same air twice using one turbocharger unit.
The VNT is just the icing on the cake.
Because a $10 can of paint stripper and two hours of time is cheaper than $400 for even the least expensive wheels.
Also, the saw blades make for cheap and decent looking winter wheels.
If you don't know what to look for when looking for a problem... you can spend ALOT of time looking and finding nothing. Someone has to pay for that time, because the whole time the shop's tech is looking, the shop's insurance company is charging them for coverage, and the mortgage company is...
It still uses a single turbo manifold.
The turbine side uses VNT though, so it acts like a small turbo at low RPM/low boost (fast response) and like a big turbo at high RPM/high boost (high flow).
The really cool part is the two compressors stuck on one turbo...
See, what you can do with that...

I'm guessing we just have to wait for a few ford trucks to make it to the junk yard to make this turbo affordable.
Pretty damn cool though... similar to compound charging, but with one turbo. I'd love to see a 2000hp 2JZ running...
NADA has a value guide for our cars IIRC.
You're going to want to value it using autotrader.com, completed ebay auctions (completed sale prices carry more weight), and craigslist ads though to be sure you're getting an amount that will be enough to actually replace the car. Even if you plan to...
The outer crash zones on newer cars are the part that generally crushes up easily, but the cabin is designed not to. That's the plan anyway.
Older cars like ours usually stay together and look like they did fine, but do weird things like stuff the engine into your legs or kill you from blunt...

This place?
They don't list one for our supra directly, but they have that one for "77-94 toyota cars" that looks like it might be right. Only $90 too. No idea if it would fit for sure though, and you have to...
lol, interesting story.
Kumho Ecsta AST tires are cheap entry level tires (designed to be one of the least expensive name brand tires made in low profile sizes), but they are good build quality... they don't just blow out at random. They might not be a heavy enough weight rating for a Supra...

Toe is what usually causes that horrendous tire wear, especially front toe being too far from zero. Most people associate camber with that horrible tire wear because when you lower a car you can see the huge camber change (and people know that you need camber plates/bolts/arms to fix this), but...
If it makes you worry any less, people ask to buy my car all the time too. Then they offer me $3500 and look puzzled when I ask which half of the car they want.
I pay $409/year with a $100 deductible and rental car coverage, I don't have collision though. Forgot to mention this is with Progressive.
Damn... some of you guys must REALLY like your car to pay $2K+ for insurance (especially on a non-turbo!). Insurance pricing is always a factor when I buy a...
If you're looking to replace the valve with one that's cheap and easy to find, get one from a camry (not sure what year, but if you walk through a junk yard you should be able to figure it out). You'll need to mount it up somehow, but it does the same thing.
