There used to be a Composite Gasket on the market that had Hi Tensile Steel O-Rings inside the Fire Rings of the Gasket!
While it's not true O-Ringing it provided localised pressure to seal the Cylinders and from memory was done to address Motors with close bore spacing that couldn't use...
In the old days I had this happen on my BBChev/Turbo400 so I got 2 flexplates machined the ring gear off one and bolted them both on, end of problem!
Also did this to make a Flywheel for my old Toyota V8 by bolting a 1/2" thick plate onto a pair.
Mine was plumbed Cam Covers>NA T Piece>Catch Can>Turbo inlet as I said the T didn't flow nearly enough as soon as I changed to the bigger T piece it was fine! :)
Now I have it plumbed the same but with 5/8 fittings and no catch can as it was doing nothing.
Not wanting to start shit but I've seen a few posts that Catch cans are all the same... not quite true.
I've seen some of the cheap ones that are just a can with some fittings whereas a well designed one will have an internal baffle system to seperate liquids from the vapours.
Yes it will alter the indicated speed!
You have a choice of driven gears from Toyota and for large changes you can get a ratio correction box that goes in between the upper and lower cables.
Adjuster: That would work really well!
Even just using the Silicone has gotten rid of a lot of squeaks/leaks/noise but I still have to check the bolts from time to time! (where's that bottle of loctite?) :)
I only bought my Targa cos it was 5K under market at the time and I couldn't pass...
Targa's have a SHITLOAD of extra material in the Sills and rails compared to a hardtop! (and are still noodles I think a converted Hardtop would be a disaster)
GE/GTE pumps will interchange for an NA using a GTE pump it is equal to a Hi Volume pump as the GTE gears are longer than the GE gears.
No reason why it would be a bad idea unless it's a badly worn GTE pump.
LOL I wasn't taking a shot at you MrNick!
You should know better than most of us how many people actually have had a filter done in an auto trans!!
People will read this thread and right away think "Ahhh cool I can do this instead of a trans service" possibly leaving a blocked filter in...
William: Agreed I'm blown away that my 3540R goes into positive boost as low as 2000 rpm even with the 1.06 ar housing!
(even with it untuned running like a pig)
I was a bit skeptical of all of the GT series hype but it looks like Garrett delivered!
How long is a piece of string?
I often see answers here of "blah blah mod will give you XX hp"
If you sit and add up all of these a Mk3 would be making 1000 hp, sorry it doesn't work like that in the real world as Figgie said there are too many variables to take into account.
Many...
I ran an RCS catch can that looked much the same as the AWM ones using a series of internal baffles to seperate the liquid.
At first I used the NA T Piece into the CC then out to the Turbo inlet between the filter and Turbo, As I said earlier the NA T Piece didn't flow enough and blowby...
