Dave: I was running 2 x Dis-4 CDI's with MSD CDI Coils.
I had one box fail within 4000 KM's but suspect it may have contributed to an engine meltdown on the dyno.
Nash: The stock system if in good condition should be fine for most 7M users,
"good condition" is the operative term here...

Ok I've had my first hit out in anger with the GT3540R on my new 7M!

I'm only running 10 psi right now, more to come soon.
It goes positive boost around the 2200 mark then will make it's 10 psi by 3000/3200 and hits HARD, I'm running the 1.06ar turbine...

I'm sure if you gave their cars to a good peddler he/she could hook it up no problems and put in respectable times.
At least with your existing motor you have a known quantity, JDM motors no matter how low KM's you have NFI of it's general condition or if it's been serviced.
LoveMy: Reverse is a straight cut Dog gear so you're actually shifting a gear not a synchro when you engage it.... Sometimes you can slip it in at just the right time others it will grind/crunch.
I find with my new Tremec if I nudge it towards 5th first it's fine as this stops any clutch drag...
I haven't heard/seen the vid as it's a QT file but you might want to try unclipping/reclipping the Injectors one at a time to see if you can isolate the cylinder.
This will tell you a few things which cylinder it is and if the clatter stops it points to rod knock.
