Bob: It takes a LOT of cylinder pressure to blow a MHG like that!
Not sure on a cause but I'd be really concerned at the state of the rings and ring lands.
Think I'd be looking at Injectors as well as something is very wrong here!
You could put a piece of wood between the pipe and the Diff mount cutout then maybe use some heat and the floor jack (With a piece of wood so you don't mark the rear muffler)
No matter how good you get it on the ground it's going to need a tweak ;)!
Cut the rear rear hanger off the muffler and put a floor jack under it jack it up and reweld the hanger.
You might have to get under the car with a pipe or something to use as a lever to get clearence.
A length of pipe in the tail pipe makes a good lever to get the angles perfect once it's...
The hose still looks like the CC vapour return from the hose and clip.......
(if you ignore that it's on the wrong side of the car!)
I'd back track it and see where it's going.

Porter: Now you have your magic setting chuck the meter on and measure the values write em down and if you need to set it again you can do so single handed and a bit faster than jumping in and out of the car!
In the rear you hit a point that while there is still adjustment you get a choice of a good camber setting or a a good toe setting it's one or the other.
If you get the camber right you end up with toe out making the car very stable in a straight line but very reluctant to turn in for...
