    David:Agreed but this all depends on if you're confident in the tolerences and state of tune and that everything else is perfect and ready to be hammered! Our Cars tend to be a bit tired in general and built to a budget by novices this is why I made my suggestion.

    Good choice! I'd leave it clamped down if it was mine the Cometic has a layer of flourine rubber to help it seal so it should be fine as long as you're confident the dent/mark isn't near the bore.

    Might be an idea to undo the bolts in the reverse order that you tightened em up in carefully pull the head (keeping your cousin away ;) ) do the gasket with Brake Quiet and refit! Worst that can happen now is it seeps some Oil around the front so it's your call. (what gasket did ya use?)

    As long as it's not under the fire ring in the gasket it should be fine! Did you use some sealer at the end where it seals on the timing case?
