    I have used the cometic mhg, but i don't recall if it blocked any ports, But it did have openings where there weren't any ports.

    Yeah, it was zinc chromate plating. I had it done at a place called Metal finishers of Atlanta - MFA. They do all kinds of plating, including gold, chrome, and anodizing in colors.     I say this in every thread that concerns a no-start situation, where the cps has been removed: Even though you put it in as per the tsrm, it is very easy to be off one tooth, so i suggest the following; remove the adjustment bolt, and rotate the cps about a 1/4 inch past normal adjustment range...
